About The Position

ARK Products is seeking a local freelance photographer in or near Columbia, SC, for an ongoing partnership. The role involves both product and lifestyle photography for a 25-year-old therapist-founded brand specializing in oral motor and sensory tools. This is envisioned as an independent contractor (1099/vendor) relationship, not a direct hire. The ideal candidate will be reliable, organized, communicative, and comfortable working with children. The company offers a steady, returning client relationship with a focus on meaningful products.

Requirements

• Based within about a 1.5-hour drive of Columbia, SC.
• Comfort working with children.
• Ability to livestream or tether photos as they are taken.
• Reliable, organized, and communicative.
• Comfortable with a shot list and able to provide feedback on set.
• Willingness to engage in an ongoing, repeat work relationship if a good fit.
• Reasonable rates suitable for a small brand with a moderate marketing budget.

Nice To Haves

• Video capability or a videographer partner.
• A network of models that can be coordinated and scheduled for lifestyle shoots.

Responsibilities

• Capture clean hero shots of products from multiple angles, flat lays, and detail shots, ensuring strong accuracy in color, focus, lighting, and texture.
• Conduct lifestyle photography sessions with children and adults using products in home, clinic, or school settings on location.
• Collaborate with an ARK team member on set during lifestyle shoots, taking direction on specific details like hand position, posture, and tool usage.
• Livestream or tether photos as they are taken for real-time review by an ARK team member.
• Adapt to new product launches which occur on an irregular cadence.
• Potentially provide video capabilities or partner with a videographer.
