About The Position

ARK Therapeutic is seeking a local freelance photographer in or near Columbia, SC, for an ongoing partnership. The role involves both product and lifestyle photography for a therapist-founded brand that creates oral motor and sensory tools. This is a 1099/vendor relationship, not a direct hire. The ideal candidate will be reliable, organized, communicative, and comfortable working with children. The photographer should be able to livestream or tether photos for real-time review and be open to repeat work. While editing is handled in-house, a strong eye for detail, color accuracy, focus, and lighting is crucial.

Requirements

• Based within about a 1.5-hour drive of Columbia, SC.
• Comfort working with children.
• Ability to livestream or tether photos as they are taken.
• Strong eye for color accuracy, focus, lighting, and texture.
• Ability to take direction and pivot on set.
• Organized and communicative.
• Comfortable with a shot list.
• Ability to flag what's working and what isn't on set.
• Willingness to send portfolio (especially product work and any work with kids), rates, and a quick background on capabilities.

Nice To Haves

• Video capability or a videographer regularly partnered with.
• A network of models that can be coordinated and scheduled for lifestyle shoots.

Responsibilities

• Conduct product photography, including clean hero shots from multiple angles, flat lays, and detail shots, ensuring strong attention to color accuracy, focus, lighting, and texture.
• Perform lifestyle photography with children and adults using products in home, clinic, or school settings on location.
• Collaborate with an ARK team member on lifestyle shoots, taking direction on specific details like hand position, posture, and tool usage.
• Livestream or tether photos as they are taken for real-time review by an ARK team member.
• Manage communication regarding shot lists and provide feedback on what is working or not working on set.
• Be available for new product launches which occur irregularly and require a few hours of shooting each time.
• Be available for a baseline of two half-day lifestyle shoots per year, often bundled with product launches, plus occasional smaller shoots as needed.
