About The Position

Canadian Hearing Services (CHS) Interpreting and Translation Services is expanding its team of freelance sign language interpreters. The Freelance Interpreter will provide confidential interpreting services between American Sign Language (ASL) and English language users in-person and/or via video in a variety of settings, which include community, medical, mental health, and emergency events. This posting is for an existing vacancy.

Requirements

• Active member of Canadian Association of Sign Language Interpreters (CASLI)
• 3–4-year post-secondary diploma/degree from an accredited program
• Minimum of 1-year of interpreting experience
• Excellent language fluency in both ASL and ENG
• Ability to match diverse language use of consumers
• Strict confidentiality
• Following best practices and protocols
• Legally eligible for employment in Canada
