About The Position

Supervises and coordinates the maintenance of all fraud related initiatives including overseeing fraud detection systems, conducting fraud investigations, participating in risk assessments, and identifying opportunities to minimize exposure or loss.

Requirements

  • Associate degree in Business Administration or related field required
  • 3 years of progressively responsible experience in fraud prevention, or risk management within a financial institution, with a demonstrated expertise in financial crimes investigation and working knowledge of bank operations and regulatory requirements.

Nice To Haves

  • Supervisor experience preferred
  • CUNA Credit Union Compliance Expert (CUCE) and Bank Secrecy Act Compliance Specialist (BSACS) designations desired.

Responsibilities

  • Possesses and applies relevant knowledge of the business to advance the organization’s goals. Enhances organizational effectiveness on an ongoing basis by reviewing ERM workflows, processes, analyzing data and recommending enhancements to support strategic goals and institutional growth.
  • Collects, organizes, and documents case information to ensure compliance with Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), Suspicious Activity Reporting (SAR), and departmental requirements. Formulates and recommends actions based on investigative conclusions, files reports, testifies in court, and ensures proper documentation and evidence retention.
  • Prepares and submits required regulatory filings, including Currency Transaction Reports (CTRs), in accordance with Bank Secrecy Act and FinCEN requirements. Ensures timely completion, accuracy, and proper retention of documentation in alignment with organzation and regulatory requirements.
  • Serves as MSGCU’s subject matter expert with regard to fraud prevention. Ensures adequate controls are in place and develops fraud prevention and detection activities by staying current on emerging technological, industry, and fraud trends. Makes sound and timely decisions related to the risk management function that keeps the organization moving forward.
  • Analyzes data sources to identify gaps and opportunities to improve fraud mitigation efforts. Summarizes findings to make recommendations and implement mitigation strategies to minimize exposure or loss.
  • Monitors changes in business practices and the financial industry that may impact MSGCU. Analyzes complex and sometimes contradictory information to solve problems effectively and make proactive and responsive recommendations to update procedures, processes, and guidelines to ensure the organization’s needs and regulatory compliance requirements are met.
  • Builds an effective high performing team that applies their diverse skills and perspectives to achieve common goals. Enables team’s success by setting clear objectives aligned with broader organizational goals, removing obstacles, and establishing controls that empower effective delegation of responsibility.
  • Participates in risk assessments and operational efficiency studies to ensure compliance with applicable regulations and laws. Facilitates implementation of new regulatory requirements and oversees vendor and software system operations to support ERM goals.
  • Identifies training needs and collaborates with the Human Resources department to develop relevant content for branches and departments to meet shared objectives, improve relationships, develop teamwork and deliver high quality member service.
