About The Position

The mission of the Louisiana Department of Health is to protect and promote health and to ensure access to medical, preventive, and rehabilitative services for all residents of the State of Louisiana. In this role, you'll conduct complex investigations into benefit eligibility, gather and analyze evidence, interview witnesses, perform field investigations, and determine appropriate administrative or legal action. This position offers the opportunity to collaborate with law enforcement and legal professionals while serving as a trusted representative of the State in administrative hearings and court proceedings.

Requirements

Four years of experience in social services; OR Six years of full-time work experience in any field plus one year of experience in social services; OR A bachelor's degree plus one year of experience in social services; OR A bachelor’s degree in social work or a master's degree in a social services field or education.
Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field.

Responsibilities

Conducts complex investigations involving employee misconduct, benefit fraud, and violations of agency, departmental, and Civil Service policies.
Collects, analyzes, and documents evidence by interviewing witnesses, conducting surveillance, researching records, and using investigative databases and intelligence tools.
Collaborates with state, federal, and local law enforcement agencies, prosecutors, and legal partners to support criminal and administrative investigations.
Evaluates agency policies, procedures, and operations to identify deficiencies and determine their impact on ongoing investigations.
Obtains and secures evidence through affidavits, warrants, court orders, depositions, and other authorized investigative methods.
Prepares detailed investigative reports, financial loss assessments, and case documentation for administrative actions, civil litigation, and criminal prosecution.
Represents the agency by providing testimony, presenting investigative findings, and supporting legal proceedings in hearings and court as required.
