About The Position

Sets up and operates a variety of woodworking machines and uses various hand tools to fabricate and repair wooden cabinets and high-grade furniture. This role involves studying blueprints, planning cutting and shaping operations, and assembling wooden components.

Requirements

  • One to Three years related experience.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Regularly required to stand and walk.
  • Must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

  • Studies blueprints or drawings of articles to be constructed or repaired, and plans sequence of cutting or shaping operations.
  • Marks outline or dimensions of parts on paper or lumber stock.
  • Sets up and operates woodworking machines such as miter saws, table saw, and staple gun to measure, cut and shape parts from woodstock.
  • Trims component parts of joints to ensure snug fit.
  • Bores holes for insertion of screws or dowels.
  • Glues, fits, and clamps parts and subassemblies together to form complete unit.
  • Drives nails or other fasteners into joints at designated places to reinforce joints.
  • Sands and scrapes surfaces and joints of articles to prepare articles for finishing.
  • Repairs high-grade articles of furniture.
  • Installs hardware such as hinges, catches, and drawer pulls.
