About The Position

Amazon is expanding Amazon Web Services (AWS) connectivity and is looking for an FPGA Development Engineer with experience developing programmable logic on advanced FPGAs. This role will help architect, develop, and integrate scalable FPGA systems within the AWS technology ecosystem. The position is located in Arlington, VA (HQ2) and requires the candidate to be a US Citizen with an active Secret security clearance, and the ability to obtain a TS/SCI security clearance with polygraph after starting. The team develops AWS-owned hardware solutions to scale globally, minimize cost, and maximize value for customers, working in a dedicated product development lab in Arlington, VA.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field
  • 5+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
  • Experience in RTL coding and debug, as well as performance, power, area analysis and trade-offs
  • Knowledge of IT system hardware and network concepts
  • 5+ years developing programmable logic in VHDL, System Verilog or Verilog for FPGA SOCs
  • US Citizen
  • Currently possess and maintain an active Secret security clearance

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree in Electrical or Communications Engineering or a related field
  • 7+ years of full RTL development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
  • Experience with Xilinx Ultrascale+ FPGAs, Versal ACAPs, and/or Intel Agilex SOCs
  • Experience developing programmable logic for 400G+ Networking Systems
  • Current, US government security clearance of Secret or above (TS / SCI or higher - preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Develop custom RTL and integrate with third party libraries to build end to end 100G+ solutions.
  • Collaborate with design and system engineers to perform tradeoffs and architect new solutions for customers.
  • Own the interface between software and hardware by developing drivers, and providing software examples.
  • Participate in design meetings to plan development and review peer designs.
  • Help identify new opportunities and new technologies to improve the customer experience and add features.
  • Write programmable logic and embedded software to interact with custom hardware.
  • Debug RTL in simulation, synthesize and implement ensuring it meets timing and performance requirements.
  • Deploy RTL onto hardware targets and help debug issues in RTL, hardware, or software.
  • Provide subject matter expertise in architectural discussions, and strategic planning meetings.
