The FP&A Principal(s) is the most senior financial thought leader within Financial Planning & Analysis, accountable for enterprise‑level financial leadership, strategic decision support, and long‑term value creation. This role operates beyond functional architecture, serving as a key financial authority shaping company strategy, capital allocation, and performance outcomes. The Principal FP&A partners directly with executive leadership as a peer‑level advisor, integrating financial strategy with business, product, and growth priorities. While the FP&A Architect defines frameworks and operating models, the Principal FP&A owns the application, interpretation, and strategic consequences of financial insight across the enterprise. This role represents the pinnacle of the FP&A individual contributor ladder and may precede or complement formal executive leadership roles.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field preferred.
  • 12+ years of progressive experience in FP&A, strategic finance, or executive financial advisory roles.
  • Extensive experience supporting SaaS, technology, or high‑growth business models strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated history of influencing enterprise‑level strategy and outcomes.
  • Exceptional strategic and financial judgment in complex, ambiguous environments.
  • Mastery of enterprise financial modeling, forecasting, and capital allocation concepts.
  • Executive‑level communication, influence, and financial storytelling capabilities.
  • Hands-on capability to design, deploy, and operationalize AI-powered workflows and intelligent agents within FP&A processes, enabling faster cycle times and higher-quality decision support.
  • Ability to synthesize diverse inputs into clear strategic direction.
  • Strong leadership presence, credibility, and long‑term orientation.
  • Proven ability to operate effectively at the highest levels of the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Own enterprise‑level financial insight, framing how performance, investment, and risk are understood by executive leadership.
  • Serve as a primary financial authority influencing company strategy, capital allocation, and long‑term value creation.
  • Lead the most complex, high‑impact financial analyses informing major strategic decisions, acquisitions, investments, and structural changes.
  • Exercise sound judgment in ambiguous, high‑stakes scenarios with significant business and financial implications.
  • Balance strategic foresight with near‑term execution realities to guide leadership decision.
  • Lead enterprise‑wide long‑range planning and strategic financial outlooks in close partnership with executive leadership.
  • Shape capital allocation philosophy, trade‑off analysis, and prioritization across growth, efficiency, and risk.
  • Own integrated financial narratives that connect strategy, operating plans, and long‑term financial health.
  • Challenge and refine strategic assumptions through rigorous financial reasoning and scenario evaluation.
  • Act as a trusted peer‑level advisor to executive leaders, providing candid, independent financial perspective.
  • Lead executive and board‑level financial discussions, synthesizing complex information into clear strategic guidance.
  • Influence decisions through credibility, experience, and financial authority rather than organizational hierarchy.
  • Represent FP&A as a strategic discipline at the highest levels of the organization.
  • Integrate outputs from FP&A architecture, planning systems, and analytical teams into cohesive enterprise insights.
  • Ensure financial frameworks and models are applied consistently and appropriately to real‑world decisions.
  • Translate analytical outputs into strategic implications, risks, and opportunities for leadership.
  • Align financial insight across functions to support unified decision‑
  • Provide senior‑level guidance, challenge, and review on the most complex analyses produced by FP&A leaders.
  • Serve as a mentor and role model for Lead and Architect‑level FP&A professionals.
  • Shape the maturity, credibility, and strategic posture of the FP&A function.
  • Contribute to succession planning and capability development within Finance.
