About The Position

The Supervisor oversees the department and employees while continually improving operational efficiency through the effective use of people, processes, and equipment, while ensuring compliance with established company policies, procedures, and standards within a foundry environment.

Requirements

  • Maintain strong knowledge and understanding of foundry processes and equipment, including melt deck operations, molding lines, pouring, shakeout, and finishing.
  • Monitor and control metallurgical parameters (chemistry, temperature, pour rates) to ensure casting integrity and consistency.
  • Working knowledge of sand system controls including AFS grain fineness, permeability, and strength testing.
  • Promote and maintain strong teamwork, accountability, and positive employee relations on the shop floor.
  • Actively participate in the training and development of both temporary and full-time employees, including job task requirements.
  • Resolve employee concerns through investigation and collaboration with Human Resources.
  • Administer employee evaluations, probationary reviews, and performance management processes.
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with productivity, quality, and delivery standards as outlined in KPI’s and departmental objectives.
  • Track and report on employee time and attendance.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety programs and provide the necessary tools and equipment to meet established standards.
  • Lead and participate in continuous improvement initiatives focused on efficiency, scrap reduction, and process optimization.
  • Conduct audits of all production setups to ensure readiness; make adjustments as required and hold production if standards are not met.
  • Participate in inventory counts and cycle counts as required.
  • Update Shop Orders to reflect accurate foundry manufacturing parameters, including casting and production requirements.
  • Ensure production meets standards as specified in job orders, customer specifications, and ISO requirements.
  • Work closely with Engineering and Quality to resolve technical and production-related issues on the floor.
  • Manage consumables budget including binders, coatings, refractories, and filters.
  • Ensure accurate inventory transactions to maintain proper material flow and location control (castings, returns, raw materials).
  • Use discretion when handling company and customer confidential information.
  • Monitor daily and weekly performance including efficiencies, production output, rework, scrap rates, and downtime; implement corrective actions as required.
  • Operate and oversee equipment in a safe manner, ensuring all malfunctions or concerns are immediately reported.
  • Perform other duties as required.
  • Ensure all foundry processes are documented and maintained in accordance with Gamma’s Quality Management System (QMS).
  • Review, improve, and approve QMS documentation, including work instructions and process standards.
  • Train employees on QMS procedures and quality expectations.
  • Perform internal audits of production processes (molding, pouring, finishing) to ensure compliance.
