About The Position

The Foundry Operator performs investment casting melt and pour operations, including dewaxing, burnout, and metal casting activities in accordance with Hitchiner's foundry procedures, alloy specifications, and safety requirements. This role operates high-temperature furnaces and casting equipment, handles molten metal operations, and ensures that casting parameters meet metallurgical and quality standards for aerospace, defense, and automotive programs. U.S. Person Required.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • No prior experience required.
  • Thorough understanding of foundry safety requirements including molten metal hazards, PPE requirements, and emergency response procedures.
  • Ability to follow alloy and recipe-specific casting procedures and process parameter requirements.
  • Attention to detail for alloy traceability, melt record documentation, and casting quality inspection.
  • Physical ability to work in high-temperature environments with appropriate PPE.
  • Ability to operate high-temperature furnace equipment safely and respond to process deviations.
  • Effective communication with supervisors and metallurgy on casting conditions and quality observations.
  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
  • Must be able to meet export control eligibility requirements as a condition of employment.

Responsibilities

  • Operate casting furnace equipment following approved foundry procedures, alloy-specific process parameters, and safety protocols.
  • Perform melt and pour operations including alloy charging, melt preparation, temperature monitoring, and metal casting into prepared ceramic shells.
  • Inspect shells pre and post-pour for visual casting defects, shell integrity issues, and dimensional concerns, segregating and documenting nonconforming product.
  • Maintain foundry equipment and work area including furnace maintenance tasks, equipment cleaning, and 5S compliance in all foundry areas.
  • Complete foundry production documentation including melt records, heat logs, alloy traceability records, and quality documentation accurately.
