About The Position

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • Minimal experience required.
  • Basic degree of proficiency in MS Office Suite, Outlook & Internet applications.
  • Basic analytical, prioritizing, interpersonal, problem-solving, presentation, budgeting, project management (from conception to completion), & planning skills.
  • Basic verbal and written communication skills (including analysis, interpretation, & reasoning).
  • Basic understanding and application of mathematical concepts.
  • Ability to develop and maintain collaborative relationships with peers and colleagues across the organization, as well as, internal and external clients.
  • Ability to work well autonomously and within a team in a fast-paced and deadline-oriented environment.
  • Ability to work with and influence peers and management.
  • Self-motivated with critical attention to detail, deadlines and reporting.
  • Possess a mechanical aptitude; ability to use a large variety of hand tools and basic knowledge of power tools, forklifts, welding equipment, and cutting torch.
  • Ability to work overtime as necessary.

  • Experience in manufacturing is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Operate foundry equipment used in the metal casting process.
  • Handle molten metal and assist in pouring operations.
  • Inspect and prepare molds, cores, and casting materials.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and quality standards.
  • Move sand, castings, flasks, or other materials about the foundry.
  • Assemble flasks.
  • Water and mix sand, shovel sand into flasks, and compact sand into flasks.
  • Spray binder on the surface of sand molds and dry the surface with a blowtorch.
  • Fit together, clamp, and unclamp cope and drag on the production line.
  • Weigh specified amounts of materials for furnace charge and load charge into the melting furnace.
  • Skim slag from the surface of molten metal.
  • Carry or push ladles of molten metal on a monorail and pour metal into molds.
  • Install and remove steel clamps used to hold steel flasks together.
  • Break sand molds from finished castings.
  • Sort castings into pairs or groups for assembly.
  • Clean castings, patterns, and flasks.
  • Remove gates, sprues, and other projections from castings with a sledge, pneumatic hammer, or power hacksaw.
  • Break up slag and shovel it into buckets for removal to a dump.
  • Chip out crucibles and ladle linings.
  • Prepare plaster and refine ladles.
  • Sweep and clean work areas.
