About The Position

The foundry furnace helper will train to perform the necessary operations of a Vacuum Casting Technician. This role requires the ability to operate all vacuum furnaces (equiax, D.S. and single crystal) and accurately record necessary information. Responsibilities include ramming crucibles, changing over D.S. susceptors/coils and melt coils, and performing all duties according to S.O.P.’s, Engineering Procedures and Special Lot Instructions. The position also involves meeting efficiency standards, maintaining housekeeping standards in the Foundry Department, and organizing work for smooth operations. The incumbent must maintain thorough knowledge of all production processes and materials and ensure required documentation is maintained. A positive work atmosphere must be maintained by behaving and communicating in a manner that gets along with customers, clients, co-workers and supervisors. Additional responsibilities may be assigned by the supervisor.

Requirements

  • A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred, and may be substituted by experience.
  • Able to meet deadlines and be accountable for quality/ quantity.
  • Able to work flexible hours with a history of dependability as demonstrated with strong attendance record.
  • Comfortable using a team approach to problem solving.
  • Have strong sense of urgency.
  • Individual must be a motivated self-starter with the ability to work independently.
  • Maintain a positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a manner that gets along with customers, clients, co-workers and supervisors.
  • The ability to handle high stress associated with high activity with tight deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Operate all vacuum furnaces - equiax, D.S. and single crystal - and accurately record all necessary information.
  • Ram crucibles on all furnaces.
  • Change over on D.S. susceptors/coils and melt coils.
  • Perform all responsibilities of the furnace helper.
  • Perform all duties according to S.O.P.’s, Engineering Procedures and Special Lot Instructions.
  • Meet the specific requirements of the efficiency standards.
  • Ensure that the Foundry Department’s high standard of housekeeping is met.
  • Maintain thorough knowledge of all production processes and materials.
  • Organize work for smooth operations.
  • Ensure that required documentation is maintained.
  • Perform other duties as designated the supervisor.
  • Maintain a positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a manner that gets along with customers, clients, co-workers and supervisors.
  • Any and all additional responsibilities as required or assigned.
