About The Position

Milwaukee Valve Company is looking for a 1st Shift Foundry Floater Trainee to join their team in Department 500. This position involves working in all production areas of the foundry department as needed, filling in for absences such as vacations or illnesses. The role requires the ability to step into various positions without interruption. The starting hourly wage is $22.48, and the position is eligible for a $1,000 sign-on bonus.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Stand or walk 100% of shift.
  • Frequent bending, twisting, carrying, and lifting of up to 30 pounds unassisted during shift and hoist operation.
  • Must be able to handle a fast-paced environment.
  • Good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.

Responsibilities

  • Proper placement of various size cores into the proper molds as they pass on the conveyor (Coresetter).
  • Rough grinding of castings, operating trim presses, and sorting castings into proper bins (Grinder).
  • Cleaning, inspecting, counting, and boxing various cores as instructed by supervisor (Coremaker).
  • Physically loading induction furnaces, maintaining charts as to metal types and number of heats per shift, transferring metal to auto-pour, controlling melt, and pouring molds (Melt department).
  • Following all quality and safety standards.
  • Maintaining cleanliness of work in a prescribed manner.
