About The Position

Sandstone is seeking a design leader to help chart the path forward for its platform, which aims to elevate in-house legal teams from a support function into a true strategic partner. The platform is designed to amplify legal teams, enabling them to move at the speed of AI, deliver better outcomes, and create measurable business value by unifying legal data, powering end-to-end workflows, and organizing business context within existing tools. Sandstone is looking for a Founding Product Designer who thrives in an early-stage, greenfield environment with a high degree of autonomy. This role involves close collaboration with the CTO and COO, as well as engineers who are dedicated to building a novel user experience. The designer will also play a key role in creating and refining Sandstone's design culture, standards, and systems. The ideal candidate combines a traditional design background with a forward-thinking vision for design in the AI age, embodying the core value of "ship relentlessly" and acting as a builder.

Requirements

  • 6+ years of experience as a Product Designer, or a related role within a high-growth B2B SaaS environment.
  • Front-end development experience or willingness to code with AI tools.
  • Demonstrated track record of entrepreneurship or of success in an unstructured environment - hungry, low ego, and generative.
  • Empathy to understand what a customer is feeling and emotional intelligence to know what would feel natural to them.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate cross-functionally to design, build, and iterate on core product features.
  • Own product work end-to-end: Partner with engineering to define problems, explore solution spaces, validate concepts, and ship product improvements that move key metrics.
  • Stay involved through launch and iteration, not just handoff.
  • As our first dedicated design hire, set the standards, establish our design system and processes that you want to see to ensure a consistent, seamless, and thoughtful product experience.
  • Help us improve how we solicit and incorporate customer feedback directly into the product.
  • Build our design team and culture from the ground up in close collaboration with our co-founders.
