About The Position

Office Hours is seeking a Founding Head of Marketing to establish and lead the company's marketing function from its inception. This role involves developing and executing marketing strategies, defining messaging and positioning, creating marketing assets and content, and building the foundation for a scalable marketing operation. The ideal candidate will be an early marketer from a high-growth, early-stage company with a builder's mindset and the ability to thrive in an ambiguous, fast-paced environment. This position reports directly to the CEO.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of marketing experience, including experience as an early marketer at an early-stage company.
  • Proven ability to build a marketing function from scratch without an established playbook, team, or infrastructure.
  • Deep product marketing expertise, including positioning, messaging, segmentation, competitive strategy, and enablement.
  • Experience in a B2B sales environment, understanding enterprise buyer behavior and partnering with Sales and CS.
  • Exceptional writing skills, capable of producing buyer-facing messaging, long-form thought leadership, executive content, and social media content.
  • Proficiency in using AI to enhance the quality and volume of marketing output.
  • A builder's mindset with the ability to take raw inputs, form a point of view, and execute independently.
  • Comfort with speed, ambiguity, and shifting priorities.
  • Strong judgment and taste, with a high bar for company presentation and execution across various channels.
  • Ability to create alignment among founders, Sales, CS, Product, and future marketing team members around a consistent narrative.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience shaping an executive or founder voice, drawing out ideas and developing a distinct point of view.
  • Brand strategy and visual identity experience, including shaping a company's look, feel, and market presence.
  • Experience marketing directly to institutional investors, consulting firms, AI labs, or similar sophisticated enterprise audiences.
  • Experience with a two-sided marketplace or expert network, understanding the dynamics of marketing to both sides of a network.

Responsibilities

  • Own positioning and product marketing, partnering with the CEO to refine the core narrative and translate it across all company functions and customer touchpoints.
  • Develop and maintain foundational marketing and sales assets, including sales decks, one-pagers, pricing collateral, category overviews, and website content.
  • Build and manage a content engine, creating a consistent rhythm of high-quality content such as case studies, POV pieces, white papers, reports, and a company newsletter.
  • Develop a strategy for amplifying the CEO and founder's voice, managing LinkedIn and social presence, ghostwriting, and expanding into earned and paid channels.
  • Own field marketing and events, leading initiatives like the company's dinner series from strategy to execution and follow-up.
  • Build the marketing function from the ground up, starting as an individual contributor and eventually hiring and leading a team, as well as managing external agencies and contractors.
