About The Position

Prox is hiring Founding Engineers. This role is for individuals who are delusional, never satisfied with their skill level, insanely hardworking, and want to carry a significant amount of responsibility. You will work on knowledge engines and multimodal agents for complex physical products, including expressive voice AI and codegen systems. You will also lead the deployment of these systems to real customers. The position is in person in SF, 6 days/week. Prox is building the best technical product expert for extremely complicated physical products. A multimodal agent that can draw wiring schemes, share CAD models, process incoming videos from a technician in the field, and support people over the phone with voice that can pass the Turing test. To achieve this, we are solving multimodal knowledge graph building at a deep level, developing state-of-the-art knowledge engines that can truly understand complex physical products.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with Obsidian-like systems for complex physical products.
• Experience with SIP trunking, telephony infrastructure, and audio processing.
• Experience with code generation tools.
• Understanding of how people process information.

Responsibilities

• Build the core engine that stores, relates, and reasons over product knowledge: manuals, compatibility matrices, installation guides, field observations, tribal knowledge.
• Develop deep infrastructure that the rest of the company builds on top of.
• Build phone support where a customer calls in, describes their problem, and gets walked through a solution by an AI that understands tone, frustration, urgency, and expression.
• Develop complex telephony systems, work with audio at the Hertz level, and create voice AI that people want to talk to.
• Generate real-time diagrams, interactive schematics, and visual walkthroughs through code when complex technical knowledge is hard to explain in words.
• Take dense technical knowledge and present it in the most cognitively simple way for human understanding.
• Own customer contracts end-to-end: demo to deployment to onboarding to ongoing.
• Talk to public companies, huge private companies, and lead pilots.
• Work with real accounts from almost day one, first solo, then leading a team as the company scales.
