About The Position

Own structural engineering automation for data center and industrial projects, covering work from foundations to complex equipment-support systems. Deliver structural designs for live projects while building a parametric engine that makes structural analysis and documentation repeatable across future sites. Work alongside existing structural and architectural automation efforts, accelerating what has already been built. The role combines practical structural engineering with development of automated workflows for analysis, sizing, optimization, 3D modeling, and drawing generation. It also involves integrating structural analysis tools and connecting structural design with civil, electrical, and mechanical systems so that equipment changes, loads, and site constraints can update structural designs automatically. The company values understanding of mechanics, materials, and load paths over familiarity with any particular software package, and welcomes candidates across the experience spectrum who can demonstrate that they build. Full-time, remote in the US or Canada, excluding Quebec. Compensation is US$150,000–US$250,000 or CA$215,000–CA$355,000 base, plus founding-team equity.

Requirements

Deep understanding of structural mechanics, including statics, dynamics, material behavior, load paths, stability, and failure modes.
Experience designing, analyzing, or building real physical structures or complex load-bearing systems.
Ability to work from first principles rather than relying entirely on established workflows or software outputs.
Ability to ship code using AI tools, even without prior software engineering experience.
Exceptional technical judgment and ownership.

Nice To Haves

PE or SE license; helpful but not required.
Experience with first-of-a-kind structures, industrial systems, advanced manufacturing, aerospace, or other technically demanding physical products.

Responsibilities

Deliver structural engineering packages for live projects, including foundation design, steel and concrete structures, equipment supports, loading calculations, connection design, and construction documentation.
Build parametric structural design workflows to automate analysis, sizing, optimization, 3D modeling, and drawing generation.
Integrate structural analysis tools such as SAP2000, ETABS, STAAD, or similar into automated workflows.
Connect structural design with civil, electrical, and mechanical systems so equipment changes, loads, and site constraints automatically update structural designs.
Use AI coding agents such as Claude Code to develop and ship the automation engine.
Accelerate existing structural and architectural automation efforts rather than starting from zero.
