About The Position

Success Academy is seeking a Founding Elementary Athletics Coach to create and lead an exemplary elementary physical literacy and sports program. The coach will build the program from scratch, teaching foundational motor patterns, spatial awareness, and movement mechanics beginning in Kindergarten and creating a sustainable pathway for athletic development through elementary school. The program will focus primarily on basketball, soccer, and track and field, and will develop scholars’ athletic skills, competitive and collaborative abilities, discipline, sportsmanship, and enthusiasm for physical activity. The ideal candidate is an accomplished sports educator who believes young scholars can master precise movement and athletic discipline. They will bring high expectations and rigorous physical standards while making foundational movement concepts and sport-specific techniques engaging and age-appropriate for elementary scholars. The work schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM to 5:30 PM. When after-school club is not in session, coaches’ schedules will align with academic teachers. Candidates should be prepared to share sample practice or lesson plans, or curriculum maps demonstrating instructional technique, behavior management, and a structured approach to developing young athletes.

Requirements

Fluency in English.
Strong standards for athletic performance and character, with a discerning eye for movement quality and athletic technique.
Strong understanding of disciplined, strategic, and cohesive team play and individual execution.
Substantial expertise in physical literacy, competitive sports, youth athletic coaching, or kinesiology.
Deep subject-matter knowledge across basketball, soccer, and track and field, as well as expertise in Basic Movement Skills and motor skill progression.
Ability to connect daily activities and gameplay to athletic principles, training methodologies, official rules, and physical health.
A sustained commitment to developing young athletes, demonstrated through coaching, competitive playing, teaching, or youth sports leadership experience.
Ability to combine high expectations with patience, explicit coaching, and commitment to helping every scholar master foundational movement.
Willingness to reflect, accept constructive critique, analyze instructional execution and game results, and refine practice plans, curriculum, and team culture.

Nice To Haves

Bilingual fluency in Spanish and/or Haitian Creole.
A degree in Physical Education, Kinesiology, Sports Science, Athletic Coaching, Exercise Physiology, or a related field.
A strong combination of competitive sports experience, deep subject knowledge, and proven success in a classroom or gymnasium.

Responsibilities

Build a culture of athletic excellence focused on physical conditioning, sportsmanship, team-first discipline, fundamental mechanics, and thoughtful tactical decision-making.
Deliver a structured, developmentally aligned curriculum grounded in Basic Movement Skills, including locomotor, non-locomotor, and manipulative movement patterns, and dynamic physical literacy.
Develop technical mastery in basketball, soccer, and track and field through clear modeling, targeted progressions, and scholar mastery.
Teach scholars to observe movement precisely and analyze technical execution.
Engage families through sports clinics, family fitness events, and celebrations of scholars’ physical growth and sportsmanship.
Build relationships with local youth sports leagues, athletic clubs, and community sports organizations to expand scholar exposure, clinic access, and enrichment opportunities.
Participate in network-wide professional development, seek and integrate coaching feedback, and collaborate with athletics colleagues across the network.
Continuously refine practice design and instructional execution to improve program outcomes.
