About The Position

Own architectural design and its automation for data center and industrial projects, from building layouts and equipment access to envelopes, life safety, and construction documentation. Deliver architectural packages for live projects while building a parametric engine to generate them for future sites. Work alongside existing structural and architectural automation efforts, connecting building design with the engineering systems inside it. This is a role designing buildings that will be constructed and developing software that makes the process repeatable. A traditional software background is not required; the role calls for building knowledge, systems thinking, and using AI to turn design knowledge into working tools.

Requirements

Understand how buildings work, including space planning, circulation, building envelopes, constructability, and interfaces between architecture and engineering.
Have taken designs beyond the concept stage through detailed modeling, construction documentation, fabrication, or construction, and be able to demonstrate personal contributions.
Think parametrically and distinguish repeatable design rules from project-specific constraints and decisions requiring human judgment.
Be able to ship working tools with AI coding agents; a traditional software background is not required.
Take responsibility for design quality, including researching and applying relevant requirements, verifying automated outputs, and resolving coordination issues.

Nice To Haves

Architectural licensure.
Experience delivering permitted construction sets.
Hands-on work with BIM, computational design, or digital fabrication.
Prior data center or industrial-project experience is not required.
A computer science degree or conventional software engineering background is not required.
Experience at a conventional architecture firm is not required.

Responsibilities

Deliver architectural packages for live projects, including space planning, floor plans, elevations, sections, envelope assemblies, architectural details, schedules, and coordinated construction documentation.
Build a parametric architectural design engine that converts project requirements, equipment layouts, site constraints, and building-system requirements into coordinated models and drawings.
Automate layout iterations, room and door schedules, drawing production, and checks for equipment clearances, circulation, accessibility, and egress, with review points for decisions requiring professional judgment.
Connect architectural design with civil, structural, mechanical, and electrical design so changes to equipment, capacity, or structural grids can update building layouts and documentation.
Use AI coding agents to build and ship workflows, turning project decisions into reusable rules, components, and tools.
Take responsibility for design quality by researching and applying relevant requirements, verifying automated outputs, and resolving coordination issues.
