About The Position

The Foundation Maintenance Technician is responsible for inspecting, maintaining, and repairing foundations that support utility power infrastructure, including transmission towers, poles, and substations. This role ensures existing foundation systems remain structurally sound and compliant with engineering specifications, safety standards, and company quality requirements. The technician works to identify defects, perform corrective actions, and support long-term asset reliability.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 2+ years of experience in construction, foundation work, maintenance or utilities
  • Basic knowledge of concrete systems, structural components, and repair techniques
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications
  • Valid driver’s license; CDL preferred
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering plans, and specifications
  • Valid driver's license
  • Occasionally lift, carry, push, or pull materials and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Available to work outages, storms, emergencies including on call rotation.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect foundations for transmission towers, poles, and substations for signs of wear, cracking, settlement, erosion, or structural degradation
  • Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on concrete, drilled pier, and anchor-based foundations
  • Execute repairs such as patching, grouting, sealing, underpinning, or reinforcement installation
  • Support excavation activities required for inspection and repair work
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, maintenance plans, and inspection reports
  • Document site conditions, inspection findings, and completed maintenance work
  • Assist with structural assessments and recommend repair solutions based on field conditions
  • Ensure proper alignment, stability, and integrity of foundation systems during maintenance activities
  • Operate and maintain tools and equipment used for repair and inspection work
  • Coordinate with engineers, inspectors, and construction crews to execute maintenance plans
  • Adhere to all OSHA regulations, company safety policies, and site-specific safety requirements
  • Participate in job hazard analyses (JHA), safety briefings, and pre-task planning
  • Use proper PPE and follow safe work practices at all times
  • Identify and mitigate potential hazards associated with excavation, confined spaces, and structural repairs
  • Follow lockout/tagout procedures and ensure safe use of tools and equipment
