Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record to be insured as an AHS driver.
  • 2–4 years of leadership experience driving customer service excellence, optimizing operations, and developing and analyzing programs for continuous improvement.
  • Demonstrated track record in leading large teams and coaching and developing leaders.
  • Highly skilled in interpersonal communication, conflict management, and fostering positive relationships.
  • Must be able to operate in a fast-paced and complex operations environment.
  • Exhibits strong communication abilities, including oral, written, and public speaking skills.
  • Able to develop budgets and estimate costs.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Certified Animal Welfare Administrator (CAWA) certification preferred.
  • Animal welfare experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Leads all aspects of the foster program, ensuring alignment with organizational goals while delivering exceptional customer service both internally and externally.
  • Partners closely with cross-functional teams to implement program improvements, enhance foster engagement, and improve animal outcomes.
  • Develops and trains staff and volunteers on medical and customer service protocols.
  • Tracks program data, monitors outcomes, and drives strategies to reduce length of stay.
  • Navigates emotionally complex situations, maintains a solutions-oriented mindset, and works effectively with a diverse group of people and animals.
  • Oversees daily operations of the foster program, including medical scheduling and owned animal programs.
  • Leads recruitment, onboarding, and retention efforts for foster volunteers in collaboration with the marketing team.
  • Supervises and develops staff, ensures appropriate staffing levels, manages employee relations, and conducts performance evaluations in partnership with Human Resources.
  • Manages the foster budget, prepares regular reports with actionable recommendations, coordinates foster appreciation initiatives, and leads responses to urgent cases to place pets quickly into foster homes.
