About The Position

It's a great feeling to work for a company that does so much good for others around the world! This role involves supporting, encouraging, and recruiting foster parents, as well as recruiting and assessing foster home applicants. The position requires monitoring verified foster homes for ongoing compliance with agency policies and procedures, and state and federal standards. Frequent travel between locations is expected, and all deadlines set by the program supervisor and federal partners must be met. The Foster Care Programs aspect of this role also involves supporting, encouraging, and recruiting foster parents.

Requirements

Fluent in Spanish and English
Bachelor’s degree in social work or related field
First aid certification
CPR certification
Emergency behavior intervention certification
Two (2) plus years of working with children who have mental health or behavioral disabilities in a residential setting
Two (2) plus years of child placing experience
Pass a pre-employment drug screen and random drug screens throughout employment.
Provide proof of work eligibility status upon request.
Pass a pre-employment and biennial criminal background checks.
Demonstrate the ability to respond sensitively and competently to the service population’s cultural and socio-economic characteristics.
Demonstrate the ability to work collaboratively with other staff members, service providers and professionals.
Demonstrate the ability to provide crisis intervention according to training provided by Compass Connections when needed to maintain a safe environment.
Demonstrate the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and maintain emotional control and professional composure at all times.
Demonstrate the ability to maintain computer literacy required to meet the responsibilities of the position.
Demonstrate the ability to work effectively and without intensive supervision both independently and as a member of a multidisciplinary team.
Demonstrate a working knowledge of all Compass Connections policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

Meet all federal and state regulatory guidelines and standards that are applicable to this position.
Maintain a case load in accordance with agency policies and procedures and contract standards.
Train and evaluate foster parents to ensure adequate skill and motivation to implement the agency behavior management model.
Provide ongoing and regular face-to-face supervision of foster parents according to program requirements.
Maintain accurate and current foster care records.
Intervene in crisis situations involving foster children or families.
Provide pre-service and in-service training to foster parents as necessary.
Prepare daily census and department reports as assigned.
Maintain effective working relationships between foster parents, other agency staff, Child Protective Services staff, Department of Children’s Services, judicial officials, legal resources, medical professionals, and other community resources.
Participate in on-call duties and responsibilities.
Work evenings, weekends and holidays as needed or requested by position supervisor.
Implement Compass Connections safety protocols including evacuating with children and other staff, in case of an emergency.
Maintain confidentiality in all areas of the service population and program operations.
Maintain Compass Connections professional and ethical standards of conduct outlined in Compass Connections employee handbook including demonstrating respect for agency staff, the service population, and community members and complying with required dress code at all times.
Support, encourage, and recruit foster parents.
Recruit and assess foster home applicants to make a recommendation regarding verification as an agency foster home.
Monitor verified foster homes for on-going compliance with agency policies and procedure and state and federal standards.
Frequently travel from one location to another.
Meet all deadlines required by program supervisor and federal partners.
Support, encourage, and recruit foster parents.
