About The Position

Wipro Limited is seeking a Forward Deployed Engineer to join their team. This role involves embedding with supply chain and commodity planning teams to transform operational spreadsheets and business data into reliable pipelines, dashboards, and AI-assisted tools. The engineer will be responsible for deploying and supporting these tools in production. The position requires working with Python (FastAPI/Postgres) for the backend, modern JavaScript for the frontend, Docker for containerization, and integrating LLM features through an internal AI gateway. A key aspect of the role is translating ambiguous business data into actionable insights for planners, emphasizing strong data modeling skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with non-technical stakeholders.

Responsibilities

Sit with business stakeholders (commodity managers, supply planners) to understand workflows and translate ambiguous asks into a data model with explicit invariants
Build ingestion pipelines for Excel/CSV/Box-hosted source files; detect and flag schema drift, not silently absorb it
Design and build internal web apps/dashboards (backend API + lightweight frontend) and deploy them to internal hosting
Integrate LLM-powered features (chat over data, RAG, extraction) via internal AI gateways, with an emphasis on cost/latency/security-appropriate use
Write validation/reconciliation logic that a data owner can trust — provenance tagging, audit trails, "never silently invent a number"
Iterate rapidly with SMEs; document decisions and open questions rather than guessing
Maintain production reliability (tests, CI-friendly builds, monitoring) for tools that business teams depend on daily
