Founding Forward Deployment Engineer

Glimpse•New York, NY
•$195,000 - $250,000•Onsite

About The Position

Glimpse is seeking a Founding Forward Deployment Engineer to bridge the gap between customer needs and their product. This role involves tackling complex customer challenges, often involving messy ERP systems and undocumented data, and translating them into functional software. The engineer will also play a key role in defining the Forward Deployment Engineer function as the company grows, establishing integration patterns, validation standards, and operational workflows that will have a lasting impact. Glimpse is an AI platform for CPG brands, automating back-office workflows such as deductions management, revenue recovery, and cash application. Since its launch in April 2024, Glimpse has rapidly expanded to over 200 customers and secured $52M in funding. The platform utilizes AI agents to process deduction data, validate charges, automate cash application, and dispute invalid claims, demonstrating significant efficiency and revenue recovery for clients.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of software engineering experience, with significant time spent in customer-facing, solutions, or forward-deployed roles.
  • Hands-on experience with data pipelines and integrations against financial or operational systems (ERPs, accounting, inventory, order management).
  • Comfort working with messy, legacy, and undocumented data sources.
  • A track record of owning ambiguous projects from initial conversation to production.
  • Strong instincts for testing, validation, and auditability, with a healthy skepticism about the appropriate use of AI in financial workflows.
  • Daily use of AI-assisted development tools.
  • Clear communication skills in conversation, writing, code, and design documents, capable of explaining code to peers and strategy to customers.
  • Low ego and high standards, with the ability to give and take feedback well, handle disagreement constructively, and share credit.
  • Experience building with LLMs.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with retail, CPG, supply chain, or finance-ops data.
  • Prior early-stage or founding-team experience.
  • Familiarity with reconciliation or audit requirements for financial data.

Responsibilities

  • Own customer problems end to end, driving vague customer asks to shipped solutions without waiting for a spec.
  • Identify the real problem by looking past literal customer requests to understand what will truly make them successful, and translate scattered feedback into clear product direction.
  • Build robust data integrations that move and reconcile SKU, inventory, transaction, and invoice data across legacy systems and modern data stacks, handling undocumented sources, partial data, backfills, and idempotent reprocessing.
  • Design scalable integration patterns that work across multiple customers and ERPs, planning for failure modes, scale, and future changes.
  • Ensure correctness by building validation, exception handling, and reconciliation into every workflow, especially where AI interacts with financial data, and determining when AI steps are not appropriate.
  • Help define how Glimpse proves AI-driven outputs to customers and auditors.
  • Write clean, correct software, utilizing AI dev tools as a core part of the workflow, and openly discussing tradeoffs.
  • Make others better by unblocking teammates, mentoring, and building alignment across engineering, product, and customer-facing teams.

Benefits

  • Competitive salary with meaningful equity
  • In-person team in NYC
  • Direct impact on a company growing at an exceptional pace
  • A front-row seat to building the operating system for CPG brands
