About The Position

We are seeking senior leaders in forward deployment or support engineering roles who are passionate about developing and coaching people. Ideal candidates have experience leading engineering teams in high-growth global tech organizations, AI/ML companies, or fast-scaling startups, particularly those with experience in infrastructure, platform, security, or ML/AI engineering. As a Mento coach, you will build 1:1 partnerships with members to help them achieve goals, improve leadership and communication skills, solve workplace issues, and enhance their overall job satisfaction and engagement. All coaches must complete Mento’s ICF-certified coach training program, which provides immersive training, Mento’s coaching methodology, and proprietary tools, earning Continuing Coach Education Units upon graduation.

Requirements

  • Senior executive responsible for forward deployment or support engineering with 15+ years experience managing teams and coaching individuals.
  • Experience leading teams through hypergrowth, rapid organizational change, or the transition from startup to scale.
  • Experience building functions from scratch and hiring into ambiguity.
  • Understanding of how to influence and build credibility both internally and externally within a customer's organization.
  • Ability to help engineering leaders develop visibility and impact beyond their immediate teams.
  • Desire to turn people leadership skills into meaningful coaching skills with a growth mindset.
  • Passionate about helping people advance in the workplace to build fulfilling careers and lives.
  • Self-aware with high emotional intelligence, and a focus on creating a safe space for vulnerability.
  • Comfortable working in a constantly-changing startup environment.
  • Able to dedicate a minimum of 12+ hours per month to coaching at Mento for the next 24+ months.
  • Must have the capacity to give a minimum of three to five hours per week towards Mento regardless of other commitments.
  • Able to work with Mento for a minimum of 24 months.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience at a U.S. HQ’d technology company or global technology company across multiple offices.
  • Team leadership experience carries significant weight — coaching certifications are valued but not required.
  • Navigated the dynamic of carrying meaningful technical responsibilities while managing a team — and understand what it takes to delegate, prioritize, and lead through others without losing your technical edge.

Responsibilities

  • Providing 1:1 coaching to Mento members through virtual sessions using the Mento Platform & Tools.
  • Participating in ongoing training sessions to improve coaching abilities and skills.
  • Communicating with members via your Mento email or via chat in the Mento App in between sessions.
  • Being an integral member of the Mento coaching community by sharing coaching tools and insights.
  • Acting with kindness, respect, and empathy as an ambassador of the Mento community.
