About The Position

The Forward Deployed Systems Engineer develops software components, configures and deploys systems, integrates applications, and resolves technical challenges across infrastructure and application layers. The role moves between coding, system administration, deployment, and implementation to meet business and technical requirements. The engineer works independently, understands complex technical environments, and owns solutions from development through deployment and ongoing support. The position covers Linux and cloud infrastructure, backend software development, databases, Docker-based deployment, CI/CD, system integrations, troubleshooting, and operational reliability. It also involves working directly with stakeholders to understand requirements, validate implementations, investigate issues, and relay feedback to engineering teams.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 3–5 years of relevant experience in systems engineering, software development, infrastructure engineering, DevOps, or a combination of these disciplines.
  • Strong hands-on programming skills in Python or JavaScript/TypeScript.
  • Practical experience administering and troubleshooting Linux environments.
  • Understanding of backend applications, REST APIs, databases, and software integration.
  • Experience with Docker, Git, and application deployment workflows.
  • Working knowledge of AWS, Google Cloud Platform, or Microsoft Azure.
  • Understanding of networking fundamentals, HTTP/HTTPS, DNS, ports, firewalls, and SSL/TLS.
  • Experience with SQL databases, preferably PostgreSQL or MySQL.
  • Strong analytical, debugging, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with CI/CD tools such as GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or Jenkins.
  • Familiarity with infrastructure automation tools such as Terraform or Ansible.
  • Experience with monitoring, centralized logging, and performance troubleshooting.
  • Exposure to Kubernetes, distributed systems, background workers, or message queues.
  • Experience implementing integrations with external platforms and APIs.
  • Familiarity with AI/ML application deployment or LLM-based systems.
  • Experience in environments requiring direct technical implementation and stakeholder interaction.

Responsibilities

  • Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot Linux servers and application environments.
  • Manage cloud infrastructure, virtual machines, networking, DNS, firewalls, and SSL/TLS configurations.
  • Diagnose system-level issues involving resource utilization, connectivity, permissions, and application availability.
  • Maintain system reliability, performance, security, and operational stability; automate routine infrastructure and administrative tasks where possible.
  • Develop, maintain, and debug software using Python and/or JavaScript/TypeScript, including backend services, REST APIs, scripts, and automation utilities.
  • Work with databases, including PostgreSQL and MySQL, for application development and troubleshooting.
  • Understand existing codebases, identify defects, implement fixes, and develop new functionality using clean, maintainable, and testable code.
  • Deploy and manage applications using Docker and container-based environments.
  • Configure and maintain CI/CD pipelines for automated testing and deployment, and manage Git workflows, application configurations, environment variables, and deployment processes.
  • Troubleshoot build failures, runtime errors, failed deployments, and service interruptions; implement monitoring, logging, backup, recovery, and operational procedures.
  • Translate business and operational requirements into practical technical solutions.
  • Integrate software applications with third-party APIs, databases, services, and external systems.
  • Configure and deploy solutions across different infrastructure and operating environments.
  • Work directly with stakeholders to understand requirements, investigate issues, and validate implementations.
  • Adapt existing software and develop supporting components to address technical challenges; collect implementation feedback and work with engineering teams to improve product functionality and reliability.
  • Investigate and resolve issues across application, infrastructure, database, and network layers.
  • Perform root-cause analysis, implement sustainable corrective actions, and own technical issues through resolution and verification.
  • Document system configurations, integrations, deployment procedures, and troubleshooting steps.
  • Identify opportunities to improve automation, maintainability, security, and system performance.
