About The Position

Salesforce is seeking experienced Technical Builders, known as Forward Deployed Engineers (FDEs), to design, build, and deploy agentic AI solutions directly within enterprise customer environments. Working as part of a delivery team alongside a Deployment Strategist, FDEs will co-build solutions that go live in production from day one. Engagements can involve a single large strategic customer or multiple accounts simultaneously, focusing on real code, real environments, and measurable business impact. This role spans configuration, customization, and full-stack deployment. This specific posting is for teams focused on Global Public Sector, including Government, Nonprofit, and Education clients.

Requirements

  • A degree in Computer Science or a related field.
  • 3+ years (6-10 years for Senior levels) of software engineering or technical delivery experience, with at least one production system ideally in an AI tech stack, full-stack development, or working with frontier models.
  • Prior customer-facing technical delivery experience (consulting, professional services, or forward deployed engineering) is a requirement.
  • Proven experience managing and delivering customer-facing projects within Public Sector, Higher Education, or Nonprofit environments.
  • Fluency in at least one of Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, Java, or Apex, with a willingness to learn others.
  • Hands-on experience with LLMs and prompt engineering, including the ability to diagnose and improve prompt performance.
  • Deep understanding of data modeling, APIs, and integration patterns.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with sales teams and customer architects.
  • Commitment to shipping quality code and evaluating AI outputs with engineering rigor.
  • Active engagement with the evolving AI/data landscape, including piloting new tools and experimenting with new models.
  • Willingness to travel approximately 25% of the time to work directly with customers.

Nice To Haves

  • Salesforce platform experience or certifications (Administrator, Platform Developer I, Agentforce Specialist).
  • Familiarity with agent frameworks like LangChain and LlamaIndex, and orchestration patterns.
  • Hands-on experience with cloud data platforms such as Snowflake, Databricks, or BigQuery.
  • Experience in specialist AI delivery areas like data engineering, platform architecture, or headless deployments.

Responsibilities

  • Develop AI agents and experiences that take real actions for real organizations.
  • Design agent intelligence, including prompts, reasoning, tool calls, and integration with customer systems, leveraging Salesforce's Agentic AI platform and LLM techniques.
  • Own technical components end-to-end, from architecture choice to deployed, validated, and observable production systems.
  • Build and integrate data pipelines on platforms like Salesforce Data 360, Snowflake, Databricks, and customer data platforms.
  • Model data, ship pipelines, and validate outputs.
  • Build and maintain agent performance dashboards and customer KPI reporting to track deployment health and business outcomes.
  • Contribute to proofs-of-concept and MVPs, moving from sketch to deployable in days.
  • Co-build alongside customers and partners, sharing best practices and enablement.
  • Surface platform gaps, edge cases, and field insights to senior Engineers and the product team.
  • Partner with the Deployment Strategist to translate customer business challenges into shippable agentic solutions.
