About The Position

The Forward Deployed Engineer is an early-career, delivery-first role focused on deploying AI systems in complex enterprise environments. The engineer embeds with customer delivery teams to build, prototype, and deploy AI-enabled solutions in production. This hybrid role combines real-world AI deployment with customer exposure and consulting fundamentals; success is measured by production-scale solutions and outcomes rather than experiments. Under the guidance of senior engineers, the role delivers defined technical components and works with modern AI development tools, generative and agentic AI architectures, and enterprise cloud platforms to connect technical work to customer value.

The position is based in or near the Dallas–Fort Worth metroplex, or requires immediate relocation, and follows a hybrid schedule with three days onsite per week in Frisco, Texas. Travel and work at customer premises may be required. The U.S. compensation range is $73,440–$139,680 for a full-time schedule, with different ranges listed for certain locations. The role is eligible for Kyndryl’s discretionary annual bonus program, subject to applicable plan terms, and may include a comprehensive benefits package.

Requirements

• Demonstrable expertise in Python or another modern programming language, such as C#, Node.js, or TypeScript.
• A solid grasp of the software delivery lifecycle and version control tools, including Git and GitHub.
• Experience with data engineering tools such as Pandas and Spark.
• Experience with cloud AI platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google AI and with distributed computing architectures.
• Degree-level qualification in Computer Science, Informatics, Data Science, Engineering, or a closely related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
• Based in the Dallas–Fort Worth metroplex or ready to relocate immediately.
• Willingness to travel and work at customer premises as required.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with AI/ML frameworks such as TensorFlow or PyTorch.
• Familiarity with community-driven AI tools and libraries, including Hugging Face and relevant repositories.
• Deep technical expertise in one or two domains and broad understanding across AI/ML, cloud, and consulting.
• Experience designing, building, or integrating multi-agent systems and orchestration frameworks such as LangGraph, Semantic Kernel, Agent Framework, AutoGen, or CrewAI, including agent protocols and coordination mechanisms.
• Practical knowledge of deploying retrieval-augmented generation architectures and integrating structured and unstructured knowledge sources into AI solutions.
• Knowledge of system-level optimization and security best practices for scalable AI systems.
• Ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions and communicate technical value to diverse stakeholders, including executives.

Responsibilities

• Partner with customers to understand business challenges and translate them into high-quality, fit-for-purpose technical solutions, prioritizing the right outcome over the fastest one.
• Build and iterate custom AI solutions tailored to customer needs using agentic AI frameworks.
• Own delivery end to end, from scoping through production, and work with customer teams to engineer and deploy production-ready solutions that drive adoption and measurable business outcomes.
• Troubleshoot and improve system performance, scalability, and reliability.
• Capture deployment learnings, document best practices, and share insights to inform improvements to Kyndryl’s platforms and frameworks.
• Adapt to emerging technologies and changing customer requirements through ongoing professional development.
• Contribute feedback and code to the evolution of Kyndryl’s AI platforms and collaborate with product teams.
