Forward Deployed Engineer
About The Position
The Forward Deployed Engineer will embed with customers to understand their challenges in shipping reliable software, identify areas where the Antithesis platform can improve, and contribute to the development of new features. This role involves working closely with customers to integrate the Antithesis platform into their workflows, ensuring it effectively catches critical bugs. Additionally, the engineer will identify and propose solutions for inefficiencies or missing functionalities within the platform, prototyping these solutions with platform engineers and validating them with customers. A significant portion of the role involves shaping the future of the Antithesis platform based on real-world usage and feedback.
Requirements
- Real-time experience building or operating serious systems software where correctness matters and failures are subtle.
- Understanding of how systems break under concurrency, faults, and load.
- Experience working with customers as an engineer.
- Ability to read an unfamiliar codebase, instrument it, write a test, and debug.
- A proactive approach to fixing rough edges rather than routing around them.
- Ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical people.
- Willingness to be in the office five days a week (DC, London, or SF).
- Willingness for occasional travel to customer offices.
Nice To Haves
- Experience with fuzzing, property-based testing, or chaos engineering.
- Experience building software for fintech, databases, blockchain, event streaming, cloud infra, or trading.
- Experience building internal tools for other engineers.
- Experience in a startup environment where the job role evolved frequently.
Responsibilities
- Embed with customers to understand their software shipping challenges.
- Help customers get their systems running inside Antithesis.
- Ensure Antithesis is catching the bugs customers care about most.
- Chase down real bugs found by the platform.
- Integrate Antithesis into customer workflows (CI, reviews, code writing).
- Identify slow, manual, or missing aspects of the platform.
- Propose fixes and improvements for the platform.
- Prototype solutions with platform engineers.
- Take proposed solutions back to customers for validation.
- Contribute to the development of new platform features based on customer feedback.
