Forward Deployed Engineer

NinjaTech AIMountain View, CA
$80,000 - $120,000Hybrid

About The Position

NinjaTech AI is building an unmetered intelligence workforce of autonomous AI agents that perform real, end-to-end work for enterprises. Since its founding in 2022, the company has progressed from research to deploying agents for production workloads within real companies, operating on secure, isolated infrastructure. This role is for a small, senior team working at startup speed on a significant technological problem. The Forward Deployed Engineer (FDE) is at the forefront of this mission, with their work impacting real customers within weeks and directly influencing how demanding enterprises adopt agentic AI. This position offers a unique opportunity for individuals who want the shortest possible path between their creations and the outcomes they generate. The FDE role exists to bridge the gap between closing enterprise deals and making the promised outcomes a reality. When a large enterprise contract is signed, the FDE is responsible for making the 'unmetered intelligence workforce' operational within the customer's specific systems, security constraints, and data environments. Each major enterprise account is assigned an FDE who embeds with the customer, establishes the initial high-value agentic workflows on the NinjaTech platform, and ensures technical success from project kickoff through go-live and subsequent expansion. The FDE's effectiveness is crucial for contract renewal and growth.

Requirements

  • Engineering background with proficiency in Python and at least one of TypeScript/JavaScript, Java, or Go.
  • Comfortable with data plumbing, APIs, and basic front-end development for demonstrations.
  • Genuine curiosity about agentic AI and LLM systems, including prompt/tool design, evaluations, orchestration, guardrails, and production failure modes.
  • Ability to wrangle messy, large-scale, real-world data and understand storage, pipelines, and cloud infrastructure.
  • Executive presence and operator empathy, capable of credible technical discussions with executives and understanding frontline user workflows.
  • Bias towards shipping and iterating quickly with users, comfortable with evolving objectives.
  • Willingness to travel up to approximately 25% to customer sites.
  • Willingness to be onsite in the Bay Area with the core team.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience integrating into regulated or security-sensitive enterprise environments (e.g., isolated VMs, on-prem/VPC, SOC 2, HIPAA, FedRAMP-adjacent).
  • Prior forward-deployed, solutions-engineering, or delivery experience at an enterprise-software or infrastructure company.
  • A proven track record of expanding a first deployment into a broader footprint.

Responsibilities

  • Land the deployment: Embed with a newly-closed enterprise customer, rapidly learn their operations and data, and stand up the first production agent workflows on NinjaTech in weeks, not quarters.
  • Build custom, tailored solutions: Integrate the NinjaTech platform with the customer's real systems (data sources, identity, ticketing, CRMs, internal APIs) and construct bespoke automations, prompts, tools, and guardrails to make agents useful for their specific jobs-to-be-done.
  • Be the technical face of NinjaTech: Conduct working sessions with a range of customer stakeholders, from frontline operators to CISOs and CTOs. Translate customer vision into an architecture and explain the platform in terms the customer understands.
  • Drive adoption and expansion: Ensure deployments are utilized to drive renewals. Instrument usage, identify opportunities for new high-value workflows, and scale initial deployments to organization-wide adoption. Success is measured by customer outcomes that contribute to net revenue retention.
  • Clear enterprise gauntlets: Manage the technical aspects of security reviews, isolated-VM/data-residency requirements, SSO/SCIM, SOC 2 / DPA questionnaires, and procurement's technical due diligence.
  • Close the loop to Product: Provide direct, prioritized feedback from field experiences to the core engineering team, potentially contributing fixes or reusable components to accelerate future deployments.

Benefits

  • Full benefits (medical / dental / vision, etc.)
  • Meaningful equity
  • Delivery/expansion-linked bonus
