About The Position

Luminary AI helps engineering companies be more competitive by getting to market faster, creating new, better products, and reducing development risk. They achieve this with their Physics AI platform, which is described as the fastest and easiest way to build and deploy models to understand and instantly predict physical reality with precision. Luminary AI's customers span industries such as automotive, aerospace, and sporting equipment, including companies like Otto Aviation, Joby Aviation, and Piper Aircraft. Luminary is a Series B company headquartered in San Mateo, California. As a Forward Deployment Engineer, you will be at the forefront of deploying this game-changing technology to engineering leaders in various sectors. You will work directly with companies designing tomorrow's breakthrough products, assisting them in accelerating their innovation cycles and achieving better designs by integrating Luminary AI's platform. This role is ideal for self-starters who thrive in dynamic environments and can translate complex technical concepts into practical deployments and solutions.

Requirements

  • Passion for engaging customers and traveling onsite. Industrial CFD experience — external/internal aerodynamics, turbomachinery, HVAC, or multi-phase flow — is highly valued.
  • Proficiency in Python for scripting and automation, familiarity with a primary deep learning framework (e.g. PyTorch), and API/SDK workflows.
  • Hands-on experience with Physics AI or physics-informed ML models applied to engineering simulation (e.g., surrogate modeling, neural operators, or data-driven solvers).
  • Hands-on experience with containerization, distributed computing environments, and version control systems.
  • Tech-savvy mindset with enthusiasm for advanced computing and simulation technologies.
  • Self-starter mentality with the ability to work independently and drive results.
  • Exceptional communication skills, particularly when engaging with technical audiences.

Nice To Haves

  • An engineering or physics background (e.g., Mechanical, Aerospace, Chemical) with demonstrated expertise in computational fluid dynamics and Physics AI.
  • Experience with CFD software — such as ANSYS Fluent, OpenFOAM, Star-CCM+, or similar — and associated meshing, turbulence modeling, and post-processing workflows.
  • Familiarity with physics-informed AI/ML frameworks (e.g. PhysicsNeMo), or equivalent experience developing and deploying surrogate models for fluid dynamics simulation.

Responsibilities

  • Pioneer Physics AI adoption by leading the end-to-end integration of our platform for customers ranging from hyper-growth startups to the Fortune 100.
  • Work closely with customers to identify high-impact opportunities and design bespoke solutions that adapt the platform to their specific needs.
  • Opportunity to travel to customer sites to provide hands-on support and work side-by-side to ensure successful implementation.
  • Provide expert technical guidance and support throughout the customer lifecycle, from initial deployment to ongoing optimization.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams by translating customer needs and insights into actionable feedback for our product and research teams, directly shaping the next generation of Physics AI.
