About The Position

Within is hiring a Senior/Staff Forward Deployed Architect to help enterprise customers turn business objectives and captured workflows into effective AI skills and agents. The role leads the agent-building engagement after Customer Success establishes objectives and coordinates discovery. This includes assessing opportunities, aligning stakeholders, facilitating decisions, building and evaluating prototypes, and guiding customer teams toward deployment and measurable impact. This is a hands-on, customer-facing architecture role. The Forward Deployed Architect builds agents and advises customer developers on implementation and operations, working closely with customers and partnering with a Customer Success Manager who manages the broader relationship. The goal is to build lasting capability within customer organizations so their teams can independently develop and improve agents. The role serves enterprise business and engineering leaders across industries, functions, technology stacks, and levels of AI maturity. The hire is expected to own a first customer engagement within 30 days and grow to a portfolio of five or more engagements over time.

Requirements

Ability to design reliable agents and skills, choosing suitable architectures ranging from deterministic workflows to agent loops and more elaborate orchestration.
Understanding of evaluations, security, governance, and observability, and ability to design practical human-agent experiences with approvals, exceptions, and handoffs.
Continuous experimentation with leading models, coding agents, harnesses, and techniques, applying these tools thoughtfully and demonstrating their impact on work quality and speed.
Ability to learn unfamiliar business processes quickly, connect opportunities to measurable objectives, and distinguish valuable automation opportunities from low-impact ones.
Clear, consultative communication skills to align business and technical stakeholders on scope, approach, responsibilities, and trade-offs, and explain technical recommendations without overselling.
Ability to solve unfamiliar problems in complex customer environments, take initiative, work creatively around technical and organizational constraints, and involve appropriate people to keep engagements moving.
Understanding of enterprise delivery constraints, including access, security reviews, testing, governance, procurement, and competing priorities.

Responsibilities

Lead agent-building engagements with customers, partnering with Customer Success on objectives and discovery, aligning stakeholders on scope, facilitating working sessions, establishing plans, and coordinating with customer business owners and developers.
Use captured processes and business context to prioritize opportunities, develop business cases, and design agents appropriate to customer systems and maturity.
Build and test agent prototypes using Within's tools and a preferred development environment; evaluate difficult cases and iterate, aiming for a first live agent prototype within 45 days.
Guide production deployment and adoption, including integrations, hardening, security, evaluations, user acceptance testing, human handoffs, workflow changes, training, and rollout.
Define success measures, support customers in tracking results, and use ROI and problem-solving judgment to guide engagements.
Share reusable architectures, evaluations, product feedback, and delivery lessons to improve the playbook and accelerate future engagements.
Advise customer developers on agent implementation and operations and help customer teams build the confidence and ability to maintain solutions.
