About The Position

This position coordinates all meat-type raw materials based on fresh and frozen meat prices and least-cost formulations. The Formulations Manager maintains control of raw material inventory using LCF models as Production BOMs in SAP based on requisitioned items for the week, and uses day planning to manage usage into daily process orders. This role maintains targets for HALBs that require weight and chemistry limits and supervises Blend Correcting. The Formulations Manager works with Tech Services and R&D to calculate savings on yield improvements or optimized targets. This position has critical, frequent, and important contact with manufacturing supervision, manufacturing personnel, and other internal customer groups. The Formulations Manager reports to the Materials and Logistics Manager.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree or equivalent certification
  • 3 years of food manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Prior Supervisor experience preferred
  • Advanced technical trade or administrative ability that requires in-depth skills in a specific area is necessary.
  • Position serves as a training and troubleshooting resource within a specialty area.
  • Work duties are non-standard and have a moderate amount of variability.
  • Requires judgment such as setting priorities and evaluating results.
  • Job has responsibility for developing innovations that improve work procedures and primarily result in less time-consuming processes.
  • Work allows for independence to decide what is to be done and when.
  • Guidelines are available but are not always specific.
  • Exercise of judgment is important.
  • Work is periodically reviewed against expected results.
  • Experience in Analytical process, data collection & analysis, Standard computer skills required.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, demonstrating the proven ability to correspond with all levels.
  • Must not have 4 or more attendance points for locations on an 8 point policy (on application date)
  • No written warning in the past six (6) months
  • No suspension on record for the last 12 months

Responsibilities

  • Weekly recap delivered on Friday each week, of all Direct Observations for each blending area (qty7). Need to verify delta T’s, mixing specifications and correction administration at each mixer.
  • Two Mixers in HD Preblend
  • Two mixers in Sausage Preblend
  • All Mixers in FP
  • Establish and conduct quarterly training and sign-off of all mixing employees specifically relating to grab and grind process
  • Conduct supervisor onboarding business reviews with all new hire supervisors
  • Response to all CRF’s as required within a 48 hour timeframe
  • Administer and train all personnel directly related to fat claim process of incoming raw material
  • Weekly report out of YTD fat claims
  • Least cost formulation reporting
  • Establish weekly account for substitution costs across facility
  • In conjunction with Technical Services establish a monthly PFF meeting
  • Daily verification audits of MI’s on the floor, recapped at the end of the week (Minimum of 5 audits weekly)
  • Daily verification audits on catch weight process on floor, recapped at the end of the week (Minimum of 5 audits weekly)
  • Cost Analysis related directly to formulation on a weekly basis
  • Inedible tracking and cost analysis weekly.
  • Lead problem solving initiatives through various value streams
  • Must coordinate training on multiple shifts for various processes
  • Ability to clearly communicate to all levels of the business.
