About The Position

Inotiv is seeking a Formulation Scientist to join our collaborative and fast-paced team. This position is ideal for recent graduates or early-career professionals (1–3 years of experience) with a chemistry or related science background who enjoy hands-on “kitchen chemistry” work in a regulated laboratory environment. You’ll play a key role in preparing dosing formulations and supporting research studies that advance scientific discovery. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, documentation-driven, and enjoys problem-solving through collaboration with cross-functional teams.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree (B.S./B.A.) in Chemistry or a related scientific field from an accredited institution.
0–3 years of experience working in a laboratory, preferably within a regulated or GLP environment.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Solid laboratory technique and ability to follow written procedures precisely.
Working knowledge of analytical or formulation chemistry principles.
Proficient in computer applications such as Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
Understanding of documentation and data integrity in regulated settings.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work independently while contributing to team goals.
Commitment to maintaining a safe and compliant work environment.
Frequent standing, walking, lifting (up to 50 lbs), and manual dexterity to operate laboratory equipment.
Regular exposure to laboratory chemicals, solvents, and biological materials.
Ability to wear appropriate PPE (gloves, respirator, safety glasses, lab coat, etc.).
Mantoux TB test with negative result required; immunizations may be required depending on study assignments.
May occasionally be exposed to animal dander or environments associated with animal research.
Moderate noise level typical of a laboratory setting.

Responsibilities

Prepare dosing formulations using standard laboratory techniques (weighing, pipetting, mixing, sonicating, homogenizing, diluting, filtering, etc.) as directed.
Prepare reagents and assemble necessary equipment for formulation activities.
Perform routine and moderately complex laboratory procedures while maintaining compliance with Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) standards.
Troubleshoot formulation issues with minimal supervision and seek guidance when needed.
Maintain accurate and complete records of all formulation activities, procedures, and equipment maintenance/calibration.
Contribute to the review of formulation data and assist with equipment qualification.
Stay current on updates and improvements in formulation methods and documentation practices.
Support the continuous improvement of laboratory techniques, processes, and documentation.
Participate in in-house training programs and maintain confidentiality of proprietary information.
Perform other duties as assigned.
