About The Position

Inotiv is seeking a Formulation Scientist to join our collaborative and fast-paced team. This position is ideal for recent graduates or early-career professionals (1–3 years of experience) with a chemistry or related science background who enjoy hands-on “kitchen chemistry” work in a regulated laboratory environment. You’ll play a key role in preparing dosing formulations and supporting research studies that advance scientific discovery. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, documentation-driven, and enjoys problem-solving through collaboration with cross-functional teams.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.S./B.A.) in Chemistry or a related scientific field from an accredited institution.
  • 0–3 years of experience working in a laboratory, preferably within a regulated or GLP environment.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Solid laboratory technique and ability to follow written procedures precisely.
  • Working knowledge of analytical or formulation chemistry principles.
  • Proficient in computer applications such as Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Understanding of documentation and data integrity in regulated settings.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing to team goals.
  • Commitment to maintaining a safe and compliant work environment.
  • Frequent standing, walking, lifting (up to 50 lbs), and manual dexterity to operate laboratory equipment.
  • Regular exposure to laboratory chemicals, solvents, and biological materials.
  • Ability to wear appropriate PPE (gloves, respirator, safety glasses, lab coat, etc.).
  • Mantoux TB test with negative result required; immunizations may be required depending on study assignments.
  • May occasionally be exposed to animal dander or environments associated with animal research.
  • Moderate noise level typical of a laboratory setting.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare dosing formulations using standard laboratory techniques (weighing, pipetting, mixing, sonicating, homogenizing, diluting, filtering, etc.) as directed.
  • Prepare reagents and assemble necessary equipment for formulation activities.
  • Perform routine and moderately complex laboratory procedures while maintaining compliance with Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) standards.
  • Troubleshoot formulation issues with minimal supervision and seek guidance when needed.
  • Maintain accurate and complete records of all formulation activities, procedures, and equipment maintenance/calibration.
  • Contribute to the review of formulation data and assist with equipment qualification.
  • Stay current on updates and improvements in formulation methods and documentation practices.
  • Support the continuous improvement of laboratory techniques, processes, and documentation.
  • Participate in in-house training programs and maintain confidentiality of proprietary information.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
