About The Position

The Forming Technician is responsible for designing, building, and maintaining tooling used in short-run and prototype manufacturing. This role ensures production efficiency by setting up, troubleshooting, and optimizing tooling for various press operations while maintaining high precision and quality standards.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • 5+ years of experience as a Tool & Die Maker in a manufacturing environment, with strong emphasis on milling and grinding
  • Strong proficiency in milling and grinding equipment
  • Solid understanding of machining principles, materials, and tooling
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and GD&T
  • Experience with press tooling including kick presses, 4-slide, and punch presses
  • Knowledge of precision measurement tools and inspection techniques
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and operate machinery
  • Ability to lift materials and tooling as required
  • U.S. citizen or national, U.S. lawful, permanent resident (aka green card holder), Refugee under 8 U.S.C. § 1157, or Asylee under 8 U.S.C. § 1158, or be eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.

Responsibilities

  • Perform assigned duties in accordance with documented procedures and work instructions
  • Design and manufacture tools and dies primarily for short run and prototype work
  • Set up, operate, and troubleshoot kick presses, 4-slide, and punch press tooling
  • Perform precision grinding and machining operations
  • Set up and operate milling and grinding machines
  • Interpret blueprints and engineering drawings to determine machining processes (GD&T)
  • Inspect finished parts using precision measuring instruments to ensure compliance with specifications
  • Troubleshoot and repair tooling and equipment issues
  • Collaborate with engineering and production teams to optimize tooling design and manufacturing processes
  • Maintain tools and dies to ensure consistent production quality and minimize downtime
