About The Position

This position involves operating machines that wind, shape, cut, bend, or form metal blanks to required specifications. The operator will position metal blanks in presses, operate shaping dies, and perform tasks such as drilling, tapping, deburring, and spot welding or soldering. Responsibilities also include measuring products for conformance to specifications, operating taping machines, cutting products, and recording inspection and test results. The role requires packing products, sealing and loading containers, and potentially forming or labeling shipping containers. Additionally, the operator may weigh products, hand stamp or stencil identifying information, rack or wire products for finishing, and maintain equipment and workspace cleanliness. Documentation of information in written or electronic form is also a key task, along with performing other duties as assigned by a supervisor or manager. This is a temp-to-hire position, with an initial probational period through an agency.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, and quality control for maximizing the effective manufacture of product.
  • Knowledge of relevant equipment, policies, procedures, and strategies to promote a safe and compliant workplace in accordance with applicable local, state, or federal regulations for the protection of people, property, data, etc.
  • Basic knowledge of arithmetic, addition, subtraction, multiplication, division and their applications.
  • Effectively communicate with others at all levels of the organization both written and audibly to convey necessary information effectively.
  • Objectively monitoring/assessing performance of yourself, procedures, products, etc., to make suggestions or corrective actions that drive continuous improvement.
  • Able to read a mechanical drawing.
  • Willingness to be trained.
  • Good listening skills and note taking during training.

Responsibilities

  • Tends machines that wind, shape, cut, bend or form flat blanks to required specifications.
  • Positions metal blanks in various types of presses.
  • Depresses pedal or operates push buttons to lower shaping die that stamps out forms.
  • Drills and taps holes or deburrs products as necessary.
  • Measures products for conformance to specifications, using gauges, optical comparators, calipers and micrometers.
  • Spot welds or solders as required.
  • Operates taping machines and cuts product.
  • Records inspection and test results and prepares and submits reports as required.
  • Packs products into cartons or packs filled cartons in shipping containers.
  • Seals and loads container.
  • May form shipping container or attach label onto container.
  • May weigh product to verify accuracy of quantities.
  • May hand stamp or stencil identifying information on cartons or shipping containers.
  • Racks or wires product for finishing operation, removes product as well.
  • Clean and maintain equipment and area around your workspace.
  • Documenting/Recording Information-Entering, transcribing, recording, storing, or maintaining information in written or electronic form.
  • Other tasks as required or directed by supervisor or manager.
