About The Position

This position ensures the training and professional development of delivery drivers with accuracy and consistency, meeting Sysco standards. This role is also responsible for monitoring policy standards and tracking employee training information.

Requirements

  • Minimum of two years as a driver and two (2) years of training experience.
  • College diploma in teaching, business administration, management accounting, supply chain management, operations management, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and equivalent work experience.
  • Hold a valid Class 1 driver's license for at least two (2) years and be in good standing.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, constantly evolving environment.
  • Excellent organizational, time management, and decision-making skills.
  • Good knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Ministry of Transportation (MTO) regulations.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook.
  • Valid and current driver's license and access to a vehicle (may be required).

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for evaluating all potential candidates for the delivery driver position to ensure they demonstrate the required skills for the role.
  • Responsible for implementing the employee training program from warehouse to driver positions.
  • Perform any other assigned tasks.
  • Train and certify drivers in accordance with all Ministry of Transportation requirements.
  • Ensure the compilation and maintenance of all training records and statistics.
  • Identify training needs and oversee training and development.
  • Assist with professional development, mentoring, career development, training, and performance management of the team to improve employee knowledge and skill levels.
  • Conduct field observations and write corresponding reports to ensure vehicles are used safely on the road.
  • Ensure adherence to responsibilities under the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
  • Meet with supervisors weekly to discuss employee learning using progress report document templates.
  • Provide both constructive feedback and positive reinforcement.
  • Be responsible for compliance with all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), including Sysco's food safety program, specific to the assigned role.
  • Assist the Food Safety Program Manager to ensure compliance with Sysco's food safety program, leading to compliance with external certifications and customer requirements.
  • Work safely with minimal environmental impact, and understand the importance of reporting all hazards, incidents, and environmental damage to their supervisor.
  • Understand the integral role of the position in preserving their own safety and that of colleagues, and have the courage to identify risks.
