Transport Driver
About The Position
Transport Drivers provide transportation services in company vehicles for clients of Northwest Passage programs. Trips may include program intakes and discharges, court appearances, medical and dental appointments, clinician appointments, visits, interviews, and transportation needs within programs. Drivers maintain resident safety and supervision, communicate with clients and staff, complete trip-related documentation, comply with Wisconsin DOT requirements and Northwest Passage policies, and keep vehicles clean, fueled, and ready for use. They report maintenance needs promptly and represent Northwest Passage in a responsible and respectful manner.
Requirements
- Valid driver’s license.
- Ability to pass the insurance company’s driving history standards.
- Must pass a criminal background check.
- Communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with clients, staff, and others.
- Neat, clean, and professional appearance.
- Helpful attitude and friendly demeanor.
- Ability to meet the physical demands required to safely operate a vehicle.
- Ability to provide visual and auditory supervision of residents.
Responsibilities
- Provide transportation for clients of Northwest Passage programs using company vehicles, including transportation for intakes, discharges, court appearances, medical and dental appointments, clinician appointments, visits, interviews, and intra-program needs.
- Maintain the safety and supervision of residents.
- Communicate effectively and appropriately with clients, facility staff, supervisors, and co-workers, verbally and in writing as needed.
- Complete documentation related to transportation services and any client issues that occur during a scheduled trip.
- Follow Wisconsin DOT laws governing driving and vehicle use on public roadways.
- Ensure passengers wear seatbelts and vehicle doors remain locked while the vehicle is moving.
- Keep the vehicle clean and check after each transport for trash or personal items left behind.
- Refuel the vehicle after each transport so it is ready for the next trip.
- Report vehicle maintenance needs to the transportation coordinator in a timely manner.
- Represent Northwest Passage responsibly and respectfully.
- Read and follow Northwest Passage policies and procedures.
