About The Position

Moretrench, a Keller Company, has been in existence since the late 1800’s. We perform industrial work in Florida with the majority of our work in the Tampa area. Fertilizer and power being our primary industries. The safety of our employees is the number one priority in our company. We are looking for a Form Carpenter to join our team. A form carpenter handles all the materials necessary to prepare and dismantle forms for pouring concrete. They must have the skills to cut, drill, modify, clamp, glue, weld, burn, staple, hang, wire, nail, join, screw, fasten, assemble, hook up, sling and signal all the varied materials used to form concrete. Form Carpenters also frame, mold, shape, brace, erect, align, plumb, level, grade, elevate, raise, underpin, lay out, shore and stake many elements of a construction project, including the bulk headings, expansion joints, scaffolding, footings, piers, walls, beams, decks, stairs, floors, and slabs. Once the concrete is poured, Form Carpenters also strip and dismantle the forms.

Requirements

Mathematical skills and analytical skills necessary to take and compute measurements.
Ability to interpret drawings and diagrams.
Basic knowledge of construction trades, practices, procedures, techniques, tools, equipment, and materials.
Ability to read blueprints.
Knowledge of proper use of equipment, materials and supplies used in construction work.
Ability to work independently and complete daily activities according to work schedule.
Ability to lift objects, walk and stand for long periods of time and perform strenuous physical labor under adverse field conditions.
Ability to communicate orally and in writing, understand, follow and transmit written and oral instructions.
Ability to use equipment and tools properly and safely.
Ability to meet attendance schedule with dependability and consistency.
Willingness and ability to perform manual work following verbal and written instructions.
Must work safely to prevent on the job accidents and injuries, wear all site specific mandated protective equipment including but not limited to hard hat, hearing protection, safety-toe boots and safety glasses.
Ability to read, understands, follow, and enforce safety procedures and prepare written reports and forms.
Adhere to OSHA safety requirements.
Wear mandated protective equipment and clothing.
Complete and pass all training requirements and attend all safety training programs as required.
Exercise the right, responsibility, and obligation to stop work when knowledgeable of job hazards.
Ability to work safely in a wide variety of climatic conditions and job site environments commonly found at Moretrench job sites.
Must be able to communicate in English.
Technical Capacity Requirements: Regularly works near moving mechanical parts and in outside conditions that include inclement weather.

The employee is regularly required to use hands and fingers to handle, feel or operate objects, tools or controls, and reach with hands and arms.
The employee is frequently required to stand, talk and hear.
The employee must frequently lift or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift or move up to 100 pounds.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
Must be 18 years or older.
Must have a valid and appropriate state driver’s license prior to employment.
Must have safety steel-toe, or composite material, work boot.

Responsibilities

Handles all the materials necessary to prepare and dismantle forms for pouring concrete.
Cuts, drills, modifies, clamps, glues, welds, burns, staples, hangs, wires, nails, joins, screws, fastens, assembles, hooks up, slings and signals all the varied materials used to form concrete.
Frames, molds, shapes, braces, erects, aligns, plumbs, levels, grades, elevates, raises, underpins, lays out, shores and stakes many elements of a construction project, including the bulk headings, expansion joints, scaffolding, footings, piers, walls, beams, decks, stairs, floors, and slabs.
Strips and dismantles the forms after concrete is poured.
Takes and computes measurements.
Interprets drawings and diagrams.
Designs, constructs, retrofits and repairs interior and exterior structures made of wood, drywall, plaster, concrete or brick.
Maintains a clean job site including tools and equipment to eliminate potential hazards.
Attends and participates in daily tool box meetings and company training programs.
Works productively and safely, consistently meets the production goals as set by the Foreman, Superintendent or Project Manager.
Reads blueprints.
Carries out project activities with a minimal amount of supervision.
Works independently and completes daily activities according to work schedule.
