Forklift Technician - Equipment Mechanic
About The Position
Wiese is seeking a Field Service Technician to travel to customer locations and repair their material handling equipment. This role involves repairing a wide range of equipment including forklifts, aerial lifts, utility vehicles, and floor care equipment. The technician will be responsible for preventative maintenance and repair work within a specific coverage area, acting as the primary point of contact between the company and customers. This position requires managing the job as if it were a small business, utilizing a company van for travel from home, and coordinating/reporting on jobs via a laptop. The role emphasizes providing excellent mechanical services and customer service, including identifying and offering additional company services or products.
Requirements
- Strong multitasking and time management skills.
- Able to prioritize your day and self-manage.
- Ability to lift 50 pounds and crouch/crawl in confined areas.
- Comfortable with heights above 15 feet.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Provide your own hand tools.
- Working knowledge of computer systems and able to quickly learn our software to complete online work orders.
- Demonstrable customer service skills, both verbal and non-verbal.
- Pre-employment drug screen, physical exam, comprehensive background record check, MVR (motor vehicle record) check, and proof of employment eligibility (E-Verify) are required.
Responsibilities
- Actively support, promote and lead safety initiatives.
- Follow all safety policies and procedures.
- Work safe at all times and report any unsafe work or work environments to management.
- Troubleshoot customer equipment problems.
- Confer with customers and get approval before making repairs.
- Maintain own parts inventory based on parts carried in the van.
- Complete and submit all required paperwork.
- Provide the best possible customer service.
- Offer additional Wiese services, added-value items and equipment based on potential customer needs.
- Manage workload effectively.
- Perform hazard assessments for each job.
- Maintain a high standard of safe work practices and quality control.
