About The Position

The Forklift Operator role involves exhibiting teamwork skills, actively participating in team activities in a positive working environment, and demonstrating problem-solving skills in a continuous improvement setting. Employees are expected to follow company policies and display conduct as described in the employee handbook. Adherence to all safety and health objectives, policies, and procedures is crucial to provide a safe and healthful workplace. This includes working safely at all times, reporting unsafe conditions, and reporting all accidents and near misses in a timely manner. Maintaining proper ergonomics, meeting customer quality standards, and performing daily cross-functional job assignments are also key aspects of the role. Participation in lean and continuous improvement programs, meeting daily production goals, and maintaining clean work areas are expected. Recording and reporting production data, directing non-conforming parts, and maintaining proper radio etiquette are also part of the responsibilities. Overtime may be required in accordance with company policy. All assigned tasks must be performed per work guidance sheets, TPMs, and quality alerts.

Requirements

  • Ability to read, write and speak English effectively along with basic mathematical skills required.
  • Must successfully complete and pass the theory and practical training module as stated in the Forklift Safety Policy to obtain a license and operate a forklift.
  • Must successfully pass a practical re-certification audit, every three years or as required through OSHA Standards.
  • Ability to perform work while standing or walking a minimum of four (4) hours a day.
  • Ability to lift up to 15 pounds on a frequent basis and up to 40 pounds on an occasional basis.
  • Ability to perform work that is below the knees and above the shoulders on an occasional basis.
  • Must have full range of motion of neck, shoulders, knees, waist and torso.
  • Frequent repetitive motion is required for a minimum of (4) four hours per day.
  • Capable of performing sustained motion for a minimum of eight (8) hours a day.
  • Good vision at a close distance is required.
  • All candidates must pass a 10-panel drug screening, which includes testing for THC (marijuana), as a condition of employment.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous forklift experience preferred as well as an understanding of manufacturing operations.

  • Work in a safe manner at all times and report any unsafe conditions to your supervisor in order that the situation can be corrected.
  • Report all accidents and near misses in a timely manner when they occur.
  • Maintain proper ergonomics at all times when performing assigned tasks.
  • Meet and maintain all customer quality standards as well as the standards of the client.
  • Perform daily cross-functional job assignments in all areas of your assigned department per the established procedures and work guidance.
  • Participate and support all lean, continuous improvement programs, initiatives and activities.
  • Meet or exceed daily production goals as directed by the Production Team Leader and the departmental objectives.
  • Clean all assigned work areas after completion of the required work, return all tools to proper storage area at the end of the shift and report any malfunctioning equipment to the Production Team Leader.
  • Record and report all data required to maintain daily production records and submit the data to the Production Team Leader for input into the MEHP data collection system.
  • Direct all non-conforming parts to the appropriate reprocess area.
  • Maintain proper radio etiquette when using company radios, business use only.
  • Must be able to work overtime in accordance with Company policy.
  • Perform all assigned tasks per the work guidance sheets, TPMs and quality alerts.
  • Assist other forklift drivers as needed.
  • Perform Daily Forklift Inspections and turn in to the Safety Department.
  • Change propane tanks in accordance with established safety procedures including the wearing of proper PPE.
  • Participate in rotating schedule to update 5s board.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the production Team Leader.
