About The Position

Nortera Foods Inc. is seeking a highly motivated and energetic Forklift Operator to join their Packaging team. This full-time role involves the safe operation of forklifts to load, unload, move, and stack materials in a fast-paced perishable vegetable products environment. The operator will ensure strict adherence to safety protocols, manage inventory using a computer system, and apply material handling skills for space optimization.

Requirements

Successfully pass site-specific practical and theoretical forklift training.
Meet minimum dexterity requirements: bending, twisting, reaching, lifting, crouching, kneeling, standing, walking, sitting.
Medium to heavy lifting capability: approximately 5-25kg (11-55lbs).
Demonstrate a positive attitude, cooperation, and teamwork.
Display a strong sense of urgency, be dependable, reliable, and punctual.
Ability to simultaneously manage a variety of work tasks and priorities.

Responsibilities

Safely operate a forklift to pile and take down bulk product up to six pallets high.
Safe loading and unloading of both dry and frozen freight.
Enter data using a computer inventory management system.
Use handhelds and truck mounted scanners to support pallet transfers.
Perform daily forklift safety checks, including battery changing procedures and using proper PPE.
Organize materials and supplies for shift start and properly stack/store leftover materials.
Communicate tote needs and issues to supervisor and quality control.
Provide coverage for other forklift drivers and move to various areas based on production needs.
Accurately label products and properly fill out paperwork daily.
Strictly adhere to all safety procedures, including Lock Out/Tag Out and the use of PPE.
Follow directions from shift Supervisor and/or Lead.
Other duties as may be assigned.
