About The Position

This role is for a Heavy Forklift Operator in a safe and efficient steel fabrication operation. The operator will be responsible for moving large steel beams and tubes onto and off trucks, and loading flatbeds with steel structures. The position requires leadership skills and a passion for logistics and organization, contributing to the team's success in delivering results.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Two years of experience in a distribution environment.
  • Ability to frequently lift and/or move up to fifty (50) pounds.
  • Good or corrected vision.
  • Ability to add and subtract.
  • Ability to communicate and interact effectively with multi-functional and diverse backgrounds.
  • Ability to read, comprehend and complete basic checklists, forms, or other related documents.
  • Identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner.
  • May require forklift certification.

Nice To Haves

  • Two years of industry-related experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the lead to distribute work assignments and daily activities to team members.
  • Promote safe work practices.
  • Follow and ensure quality standards are adhered to.
  • Post the performance numbers for the area.
  • Fork operation.
  • Oversee loading and unloading of products.
  • Manage material organization by moving materials and items from receiving or production areas to storage or to other designated areas.
  • Coordinate receipt, storage and distribution of materials, tools, equipment, and products within the assigned area.
  • Comply with legal procedures for handling and receiving goods.
  • Ensure the proper labeling, tagging, and packing of goods and materials in the assigned area.
  • Assemble customer orders from stock and place orders on pallets/racks, move orders to packing station or shipping department.
  • Open bales, crates, and other containers.
  • Assist in receiving cargo by removing it from the truck by hand or using manual equipment.
  • Sort and place materials or items on racks, shelves, or loading area according to predetermined sequence by Job name and Shipping dates.
