About The Position

This role involves working with the transfer process, including unloading and loading trailers, put away, audits, scanning, layout compliance, wrapping, stacking, collecting damaged product, and labeling. It pertains to finished and unfinished inventory and housekeeping. The position also assists in performing shipping and receiving operations consistently as instructed in the training program. The Forklift Operator is responsible for maintaining procedures, loading and unloading trailers safely, verifying pallets for labeling and count issues, and restacking fallen pallets. They will operate material handling equipment safely and efficiently, report mechanical problems or safety hazards, and follow all instructions. The role includes unloading deliveries, inspecting quality, quantity, and condition of shipments, and recording paperwork. The operator must adjust to new procedures, perform daily forklift checklists and routine maintenance, maintain order in warehouse storage areas, and ensure only one partial pallet per item with like items stored together. They may also be required to train new or existing employees and perform daily housekeeping.

Requirements

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Must have basic computer skills and possess the ability to utilize software.
Must have the ability to read and understand documents, letters, etc. and write legibly in English.
Must be able to understand and speak clearly, communicate, and understand directions in English as needed.

Responsibilities

Works with the transfer process with regard to unloading and loading trailers, put away, audits, scanning, layout compliance, wrapping, stacking, collecting damaged product, labeling, and other related activities as they pertain to finished and unfinished inventory and housekeeping.
Assist in performing the shipping and receiving operation in a consistent manner as instructed in the training program.
Responsible for maintaining the procedures concerning operation unless the training program is changed, and properly recorded concerning procedure.
Load and unload trailers safely in accordance with defined SCT safety policies and procedures.
Verify all pallets for labeling and count issues, any receiving discrepancies found should be fixed or held for the Distribution Supervisor.
Restack pallets that have fallen in the warehouse and in the transfer process.
Operate material handling equipment in a safe and efficient manner.
Report any mechanical problems with your equipment or any safety hazards relating to the performance of your duties.
Follow all instructions that are issued and notify the Distribution Supervisor if you had any problems that would result in lost production time.
Unload all deliveries or shipments from outside vendors. Inspect quality, quantity, and condition of all shipments, and record paperwork.
Adjust to and follow new procedures and innovations, which would add to the efficiency and safety of the operation.
Perform daily forklift checklist and routine maintenance on equipment including cleaning equipment and audits.
Maintain order in the warehouse storage areas in the performance of your duties.
Allow only one partial pallet per item and store all like items in the same aisle or adjoining aisles.
May be required to train new or existing employees in adherence to SCT safety and company polices.
Routine housekeeping to be performed daily in adherence to company policy and warehouse needs.
