About The Position

The Forklift Operator is responsible for transporting materials or equipment within the facility, loading and unloading goods from vehicles, and moving and stacking goods in designated storage areas. This role requires adherence to inventory control instructions, ensuring loads are secure, and performing daily equipment checks. The operator will also examine products for quality, dump materials into machines, and follow operating instructions while maintaining accurate records. The position emphasizes executing assignments accurately, safely, and in a timely manner, while also contributing to a clean and safe work environment.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Good math, language and reading skills; basic computer skills may be required
  • High degree of attention required to prevent injury to others; promote a safe work environment
  • RF scanner gun experience preferred
  • Clean driving record and a valid state motor vehicle operator’s license may be required
  • Forklift certification per OSHA standards
  • Comfortable with regularly sitting on a powered industrial truck
  • Ability to regularly lift and move up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to understand written and verbal instructions in English
  • Ability to work in a team environment and communicate effectively
  • Must possess a strong attention to detail
  • Have a good eye-hand-foot coordination; general sense of balance
  • Visual requirements include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to focus
  • General knowledge of workplace safety, a plus
  • Must be able to work at heights of up to 20 feet

Responsibilities

  • Transport material or equipment to and from designated areas in the facility
  • Load and unload goods from vehicles such as trucks or trailers
  • Move goods packed on pallets or in crates around the storage facility
  • Stack goods in the correct storage bays, following inventory control instructions
  • Check loads are secure
  • Stack empty pallets
  • Perform daily equipment checks such as recharging the truck’s battery and lubricating equipment
  • Remove machine attachments and waste material from machines
  • Examine products to verify conformance to quality standards
  • Dump materials into machine hoppers
  • Follow instructions for operating equipment and keep records
  • Execute assignments in an accurate, timely and safe manner
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment
