About The Position

Responsible for the safe, effective, and accurate handling of products stored in the facility. This role involves the safe operation of various forklifts (propane and electric) and their designed attachments to perform unloading, stacking, and picking functions in a timely and accurate manner. The Forklift Operator will support all accounts within the facility and perform all forklift functions safely per the Biagi Bros policy manual. This position also requires supporting inventories through counts and cycle counts, maintaining housekeeping to support food-grade warehouse requirements, and representing Biagi Bros appropriately in all professional relationships.

Requirements

  • HS diploma or equivalent work experience
  • 2 years of forklift experience in a warehouse environment
  • Experience with inventory control and cycle counts
  • 2 - 5 years warehouse/distribution experience (3PL preferred)
  • Proficiency on computer, using MS Office (Excel, Word, and Outlook) required
  • Effective professional written and verbal communication skills
  • Active driver’s license in good standing
  • Ability to lift up to 50lbs.
  • Able to sit for extending periods of time, and may be exposed to bouncing or bumpy ride.
  • Must be able to walk around the warehouse.
  • Must be able to change the battery or propane tank on forklift as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Safely and effectively operate various forklifts (propane and electric) and their designed attachments for unloading, stacking, and picking functions.
  • Perform daily safety checklists for forklifts.
  • Support inventories by performing counts and cycle counts as directed by management.
  • Maintain housekeeping to support food-grade warehouse requirements, including sweeping and mopping as necessary, and cleaning trailers, containers, railcars, warehouse floor, and exterior docks.
  • Unload trailers, containers, and railcars following all safety procedures.
  • Complete receivers thoroughly and accurately, turning them in with all appropriate paperwork and attachments.
  • Stage and stack all products square and straight according to account and Biagi Bros procedures.
  • Accurately pull appropriate product from assigned locations.
  • Verify all aspects of outbound orders prior to loading.
  • Load all outbound orders following specific load diagrams.
  • Change forklift batteries or propane tanks as required.
  • Attend all safety/staff meetings and participate.
  • Cut and remove seals from railcars, trailers, and containers using appropriate tools and eye protection.
  • Ensure all outside carrier drivers are accompanied by a Biagi Bros employee.
  • Stop/report any non-Biagi Bros personnel wandering through the facility.
  • Ensure all bay doors and pedestrian doors are closed at breaks and lunches and secure at the end of each shift.
  • Dispose of garbage using dock or self-dumping hoppers only.
  • Recycle broken pallets, plastic, and cardboard per established guidelines.
  • Perform bi-monthly, periodic, and/or annual inventories as directed by the accounts.
  • Perform secondary and cycle counts as directed by management.
  • Report any inventory anomalies to account managers or warehouse manager.
  • Report/document any damages found during the unloading process or later in location.
  • Assist in all areas as needed.
  • Support beer, glass, and wine repack projects.
  • Represent Biagi Bros appropriately in relationships with owners, management, peers, employees, accounts, customers, carriers, and suppliers.
  • Maintain punctuality and regular attendance.
  • Perform other duties and assignments as requested by management.
