Forklift Operator - Night Shift (3 Day/12 Hour)
About The Position
This role works with the Shipping Clerk to perform various warehousing and order fulfillment activities. The position involves loading and unloading trailers, fulfilling customer orders using an RF handheld, operating material handling equipment, and maintaining a clean and orderly work area. The role also includes assisting with shipping and receiving operations, ensuring adherence to safety policies, and performing routine maintenance on equipment.
Requirements
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Basic computer skills.
- Ability to utilize software.
- Ability to read and understand documents, letters, etc.
- Ability to write legibly in English.
- Ability to understand and speak clearly, communicate, and understand directions in English as needed.
Responsibilities
- Unload and load trailers safely in accordance with defined SCT safety policies and procedures.
- Fulfill customer orders with the use of an RF handheld.
- Load trailers accurately concerning proper sequence, products, and weight distribution.
- Operate stand-up forklift or other material handling equipment in a safe and efficient manner.
- Restack pallets that have fallen in the warehouse and in the transfer process.
- Unload all returned finished goods and move them to the damaged and return area.
- Keep the work area clean and orderly, including articles that fall outside in the daily loading and unloading, primarily focusing on the shipping and staging area.
- Report any mechanical problems with equipment or any safety hazards in the performance of your duties.
- Maintain order in the manufacturing and warehouse storing areas.
- Unload all deliveries or shipments from outside vendors, inspect quality, quantity, and condition of all shipments, and record paperwork.
- Adjust to and follow new procedures and innovations that add to the efficiency and safety of the operation.
- Perform daily forklift checklist and routine maintenance on equipment including cleaning equipment.
- May be required to train new or existing employees in adherence to SCT safety and company policies.
- Perform routine housekeeping daily in adherence to company policy and warehouse needs.
- Assist in performing the shipping and receiving operation in a consistent manner as instructed in the training program.
- Responsible for maintaining the procedures concerning operation unless the training program is changed and properly recorded concerning procedure.
- Back-up the Shipping Clerk.
