About The Position

The Forklift Operator is responsible for driving and operating forklifts to move materials throughout designated locations within the facility. This role involves coordinating with various departments to ensure materials are positioned correctly for storage, shipping, and processing. The operator will handle materials from and to the materials center and shipping warehouse, stack and unstack items, and present and remove materials from work areas. Additionally, the position involves serving trailers for shipping and processing, loading and unloading truck trailers, and placing items onto the forklift. The operator must ensure material is stored based on current and future needs and perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting on equipment. This role also includes sending and receiving duties on the loading dock, marking and scanning materials for inventory control, and communicating with other workers to adjust movements. The position requires applying acquired job skills and company policies to complete assigned tasks, with a need for occasional deviation from accepted practice. Competency in tasks beyond entry-level is expected, and the operator will typically perform assigned tasks independently.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Familiar with the workings of a forklift.
  • Understands the logistics of the facility and to place items in the proper area.
  • Communication skills are essential.
  • Valid driver’s license is required.
  • Must comply with quality, PPE requirements and safety.
  • Understand the importance of complying with safety policies and procedures.
