About The Position

The Forklift Operator I operates material handling equipment to move, locate, relocate, stack, and count merchandise within the warehouse. The role ensures forklifts are used safely and efficiently and may also include order filler or order checker duties as needed. The operator maintains productivity and accuracy while following safety procedures and supporting inventory management, order fulfillment, and shipment preparation.

Requirements

Must qualify for and pass NFI forklift certification.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Effective customer service skills.
Basic math competencies.
Basic Excel skills and general computer proficiency.

Nice To Haves

High school diploma or GED preferred.
Six months of forklift operation experience and/or experience using warehouse distribution equipment preferred.

Responsibilities

Operate material handling equipment safely and efficiently according to established work practices and safety procedures.
Follow equipment safety protocols and complete and document required pre-operation inspection forms.
Stack and store merchandise in designated areas using forklift, clamp, or push-pull equipment.
Safely unload inbound shipments and move products to storage locations.
Pull and prepare products for shipment according to customer and operational requirements.
Verify the correct quantity and product type are loaded and shipped.
Perform accurate, timely, customer-service-focused order picking.
Move products from staging or storage areas into trailers for outbound loads.
Maintain documentation and reports supporting inventory accuracy and product security.
Assist with physical inventory and periodic cycle counts as directed.
Rotate inventory according to company standards.
Identify and report inventory discrepancies to the inventory control team and participate in resolving them.
Use RF scanning devices to support accurate inventory management.
Promptly report safety concerns, hazards, or incidents to management.
Use basic Excel skills and general computer proficiency to complete required tasks.
Perform other duties and responsibilities required by the role and determined by management.
