About The Position

Oak Harbor Freight Lines is hiring a part-time afternoon-shift Forklift Operator/Dock Worker. The role supports freight terminal operations by moving, loading, unloading, inspecting, documenting, and regrouping shipments safely and accurately. Employees must meet the company’s reliability standard and be available to work various shifts during the week to accommodate business needs. Other duties may be assigned. The position offers an opportunity to enter the company’s Driver training program and work toward becoming a Class A driver, as well as an opportunity to become a full-time dock worker.

Requirements

Must be at least 18 years old.
Basic English proficiency in reading, writing, and verbal communication.
Ability to perform simple arithmetic and weight and/or measuring tasks.

Nice To Haves

High school diploma or GED/equivalent is strongly preferred.
Previous warehouse or similar experience is strongly preferred.
Forklift experience is strongly preferred.
Experience using tools, machines, and special equipment such as a hand truck, four-wheel dock cart, pallet jack, barrel truck, dock plates, load locks, and/or rope is preferred.
Experience in an LTL operation is preferred.

Responsibilities

Safely load and unload trailers using forklifts, pallet jacks, or hand trucks within specified timelines.
Note and record exceptions in shipment counts or condition to help minimize cargo claims.
Check the accuracy and completion of delivery receipts, bills of lading, and trailer manifests.
Count freight and verify hazardous-material shipments and special loading or handling instructions.
Regroup shipments as needed.
Meet the company’s reliability standard for employees.
Be available to work various shifts during the week to accommodate business needs.
Perform other duties as assigned.
